To what might you be providing water? We would not know the answers to your questions without this bit of information. Alas, even knowing, I would be unable to provide a useful answer, not even a SWAG. I would be happy to provide a completely inaccurate answer to satisfy my burning urge to provide closure.

When it is hotter and dryer you need more water.

numbers mean nothing if your lawn is turning brown.

    Recommend watering at night.

520 gallons in one shot? And what are you watering?

My 62 ' well would be dry in 10 seconds . What are you watering?

I won't let brother set up soaker hoses, he runs well dry

To answer your questions, Joe, we would almost have to be there to see what you are watering and the grade of the land, how much sunlight the area gets, how much humidity is normal, the salinity of your water and soil, and most importantly, what is your end plan.

    Hope that helps.

    Joe

I run drip year round, but have only one small area of native grass, the rest is trees and shrubs. Watering at night promotes diseases in grass, best to water in the early morning.
