I love frosty mugs. When I lived in La Habra CA we had an A&W rootbeer place that served root beer in a frozen mug. It was great. That was in the early 70's.

Yep as a kid back then we had an A&W in Ventura, CA also, nowadays I'll take the frosty mug with Beer sans the root!

There was a pool hall in Greenville SC that served beer in frosty mugs.That was the best draft beer ever.Last time I was there I was 18.Hope they are still open.

when i was a young man i could get draft beer for a 1.00 a gallon if you brought your own jug and they didn't check your I.D.

There was a KFC/A&W in Utah that still served root beer in frosty mugs a while back. I quit going to KFC long ago, so I don't know if they still do.
About beer and no ID, when I was about 8, my parents could send me to the local bar to get a bucket of beer (they had a special quart tin bucket for it) and all I had to do was hand it to the bartender and carry it home. It was a Friday night thing, and I can only suppose they paid up at some later time. I was VERY careful walking home not to spill any. I think the bar sold those buckets for carry out. That was in the 50s.

Ballantine sponsored the Saturday night fights. My Dad never missed them. We got boxing gloves for Christmas around 1955.

Frosty mugs are actually a drinking instruction tool. The idea is that you need to finish it before the ice melts and dilutes the beer. That's worked for me for 64 years. 😋

gesshots, those prices make me think I was born too late. However, when I was stationed at Ft. Monroe the NCO club served 16 oz Hamm's for $0.15. Those were the days.
