Still a better buy than the diesel powered typewriter you tried to sell to the Marine Corps! When I invested in it I actually thought that you were the Commandant of the Marine Corps. By the way, we don't have green font (for sarcasm) available in this forum and there is no way to get it.

Good to see you back on the boards, Rob (Sheepman).

Was just talking to Dale about you. He said you were on the right coast now? Sorry about the combat typewriter deal. I have just come out with a line of corrective underwear, however. I will send you a prospectus if you're seriously looking for another investment.

Yes, I'm now living in central Florida, where I am a Class 3 dealer again. I'm afraid that my investment portfolio is filled. Mark C.

Was alongside her in a Westpac deployment in 1985. Laid down in the early 60s, the USN would no doubt have paid for the asbestos and other toxic remediation necessary for her scrapping. The old gal has been idle for over a decade now, probably time to put her to put her to rest.

Nimitz was launched 50 years ago and will no doubt follow Kitty Hawk to the breakers soon. I remember her coming on line line it was yesterday.

Would make a very nice storage area for various items including cars. Just clean out an area in the woods... Instant hurricane / tornado protection too, Delivery would be expensive

I watched a program on TV where they were chopping up retired F-4 Phantoms.I couldn't stand to see it and turned the TV off.

Not as bad as slaughtering horses, but still a tragedy.

Would have made a nice museum.

I have watched a few you tube post a curator of this is their site Battleship New Jersey - YouTube the money needed to upkeep and repairs is millions of dollars many times over . what few post I have seen I was amazed at what it cost to try and keep it going as a museum .

and of course not counting what it cost even on a training run when it was actually active

Well you know she was old, commissioned before the US Navy started naming ships after politicians.

Considering the sometimes brilliant, sometimes stupid items I buy at auction. I’d play. Just need approval and a bridge loan

An Asian vintage audio dealer bought a battle ship in San Diego. All he wanted was the Western Electric speakers , worth $$$$. Someone bought a high tech machine from a Navy auction and at home he set it on his dinning table , plugged it in and starting flipping switches. Then it came on , made a loud sirene, so loud that he ran into the street. Then it exploded , blowing up his house. Turns out it was a scuttle device to destroy the captain's cabin.
