...So absurd...just saw that on the news...some uber PC jerk got all butthurt over it...WTH are cops being so "sensitive" for...must be a new breed of woosies...I didnt read ANY racist anything into it...I guess the truth, even in a light hearted way, is too tough for some...20" gold rims, true...gold grill, true...AK's, true...and??...South Central has ALL of that and then some!...

Reading the article, it is the Dallas Black Police Associationā that has taken exception to the coin.
At the very minimum, donāt do anything divisive within a single organization like a police department.
If the creators own peers donāt like it, and the point is to build camaraderie, admit the wrong, and move one.

Reading the article, it doesn't say how many drug busts, shootings, assaults and other violent crime occurs in the Big T Plaza area. The only people interviewed told how it gave black and brown entrepreneurs a place to conduct their business. Is this comparable to parents saying Johnny was a good boy getting his life turned around after he is arrested for a drive by? If the symbols on the coin are accurate, leave the officer alone. It may have been poor judgement pointing out the reasons for the high crime rate in an in your face way, but the truth sometimes hurts. Bob

At a first glance I thought what does the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and what does he have to do with South Central? Then realized what does the Pilsbury Dough Boy have to do with South Central? Also there's a South Central in Dallas? I thought it was L.A. This whole challenge coin is challenging. Being South central (L.A. or Dallas) shouldn't the dough Boy be replaced with Speedy Gonzales?

Cops are now treated like mini-politicians.If they are not political correct in any disputation with the new woke far left leanings then they are in trouble. Criminals now have a advocate that clings to leniency and it causes more crime from criminals that deserve to be locked up.Very few repeating violent criminals are reformed into law abiding citizens.
To keep doing the same thing over and over again with negative results is insanity.

IMHO.. The coin is probably in poor taste. However, unless that officer broke a specific Dallas PD policy he should not be suspended.
The officer should also sue the Dallas PD for violating his first amendment right.

It isn't a marshmallow. It's a "doughboy," borrowed from Pillsbury.
Did you see "Boyz N The Hood?" One of the main characters in the movie, played by Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson) was known by the street name "Doughboy." I don't know for sure, but I think that's the origin of the reference.
The people in that movie lived in the "South Central" neighborhood of Los Angeles, while the coin references the "South Central" patrol district in Dallas.

Makes me think of an old trucker-style hat I got years ago from a retired LAPD officer. Picture a cartoon head with a hand wrapped around the neck of an obvious addict, a pistol against the temple, and the phrase "If you can't choke 'em, smoke 'em!"
