Leupold flip up lens cover cost how much?
So I went looking and on Leupold's site they want $80!?! Part # 59040 a 36mm cover. How crazy is that? At that price I might as well get a Anti-Reflective Device at $160 Part # 62875. I wonder if Butler Creek makes cheap flip up ones for $10?

I use the Butler Creek bikini scope covers on my hunting rifles. They seal against water and dust, and are quiet when removing them. I just take them off and wad them up in a pocket. Less than $10 on sale.

You think the 36mm is expensive, I just bought one of these:

I've got all types sizes and kinds of scope lens covers and I no longer use them when actually hunting.
I've found that if a scope is not good enough for my use without a lens cover during hunting activities in all kinds of weather I need a better scope or stay home. Scope covers actually cause me more trouble than they are worth when in the woods hunting. Pop open a scope cover to take a quick shot and the glass is cloudy fogged, then a quick wipe with a nasty finger to quickly remove the fog and the animal is gone and the lens has been sanded with your finger.
I do carry some cotton balls in a little container in my shirt pocket if the lens needs cleaned in the field.
I only use the covers now days when the device the scope is on is being stored so as to keep dust dirt from collecting on the lens during storage.
I've seen lots of hunters lose or break expensive flip open covers during hunts and seen a Leupol Alumina type screw in cap broken off by a guy. He whinned when I told him that is not covered by Leupold lifetime warranty. (as a factoryu defect) He is a Democrat and not easily convinced of such things.
The bikine covers that grdad45 is godd also, just was them up and put them in your pocket.

Flip up lens covers are much less useful than you might guess, unless you live in rainforest or something similar.

toad67 - $170 is much. The covers went up 50%? So the ones I was looking at cost $40 earlier this year? That's still much for what they do. Lens cover for a RDS that ain't working for my eye I'm going to spend the least to get by.
I just wanted a lens cover to keep the dust off while stored. Also with the money saved I can by those scope brush pen and save the money for another scope.

I like the old Anderson Storm Queen lens covers.......when I can find them (heck.......I even bought out their remaining stock a few decades ago).
They are all rubber (no metal screws), with cupped end caps.
Great for storage or transport.
What's not to like?! 😉

If you want to keep dust off while stored, just get some neoprene scope covers. It will keep dust off of the lenses, as well as help with protecting it and other guns from dings. For the price these should work well for what you want.

I vote for Bikini scope covers too. The local Walmart sells them for about $7.

When it comes to hunting bikini covers work just fine, if it would start to rain just slip it on. As for me if starts to rain I’m going back to the house or the cabin and hunt from there.

I mainly now use scope lens covers while storing scoped guns even in a gun safe. (to keep dust from settling on a lens)
On good scopes that are not mounted on a gun and no scope box, to keep the scope lens clean and to reduce chance of scope body getting scratched and dinged I place them in a thick sock and label the outside as to whats inside.
I sometimes store other peoples rifles in a gun safe while waiting on parts or for glass bedding and working up a reload recipe. I normally store rifles with the barrel down especially if it has a recoil pad and just use a small sock or small zip loc bag over the objective lens if the gun has a nice scope.
