Who here is excited to be paying off student loans for folks that don't want to repay them?

College is no longer about education, it's big business. People are hood winked into thinking that they need college to succeed. What we need are trades people with an IQ above room temperature. If they are making $125,000 a year, they can pay their own loans back. The other problem is that after college, they don't want to be responsible & go to work.
The real answer is to let them re-negotiate their interest rate.

Us "Boomers" were told, "Go to college to get a good job." We also had to do enough hard/unpleasant jobs that we understood what a "good job" was.
Now we've raise a generation that didn't have the opportunity to do a lot of those jobs due to safety/child labor laws. They also didn't have to work hard in school because teachers were evil oppressors, etc. etc.
So when they heard, "Go to college and get a good job" they translated as go to college, party, have a good time then graduate and get an easy job. I was a substitute teacher at a local high school one day and we had a few minutes at the end of class so I asked the room full of seniors how many wanted to go to college. Most raised their hands so I asked what they wanted to major in. Couple of guys said they just wanted to go to party.
So we are reaping what we sown. Money isn't real to them.
We may be living in the "interesting times" of the old curse.

i helped my son pay off his and it was with money i really didnt have for that purpose, thought it was what had to be done. always under the impression that if you had a debt you paid it off. this policy is just wrong on so many different levels.

The more I think about this the more I get pissed.
It boils down to rewarding insolvency, irresponsible behavior, or someone getting a worthless degree that was unmarketable in the real world.
Make them serve a four year hitch in the military and enjoy free tuition rather than leech off the taxpayers
Being a person who paid my way thru college up and ended with a MS degree along with millions more, I particularly feel insulted.

The last 3 young guys I trained in HVAC had 4 year degrees,If I remember correctly business degrees.All of them could make more money getting their hands dirty than using the degree.

Number one, The New York Safe (unsafe) Act of 2013.
Number two. This disaster, after all the educational loan payments I sent to HSBC (Marine Midland) in Buffalo, NY. to pay for my two kids college education.

Have two Son's that are working on paying their Loans. Even thru the period when no payments are required.
Both worked while in college. Not like they were just sitting back.
Both eligible for the, to them Biden Freebee.
One did get a Pell grant (not to be payed back? ) So the Biden administration is going to pay that too?
Both went to Medium size / Community Colleges. Both have Degrees they are working in.
I did take out a Small Parent Plus loan, to hep the second son. He's been working that off, helping in the shop.

I suggest they tattoo the foreheads of all that get it... Then IF they ever go to work the employers will know straight up front ..they are deadbeats that wouldn't pay it back .

We started saving for our son's college educations from the day they were born. Both received their degree and left school owing nothing. Both are employed in their chosen fields and are contributing members of society...
Where do we apply for a 20K refund for doing the right thing ??????? 🤕

The colleges are ecstatic. Because they can now raise tuition by $10,000 knowing the future students will demand getting the same deal. A Dem government has never turned off a faucet they've once opened.

My wife and I scrimped and saved put 3 kids through college (paid for 1 degree each). Started putting money away in 529 plans when they were babies. Kids were responsible for any graduate degrees.
Our middle son has a Masters of Science degree that he paid for himself and our daughter has a DVM degree and a successful veterinarian now in SE Texas. She is paying her student loans off each month now ($270K left)
I paid for my graduate degree in the early 80's from Texas A&M from working. What a concept for Generation Z! Am I eligible for a $10K?? Haha
I am thoroughly ticked off that NOW I am having to pay for students (many of which will end up with some useless degree) that will never pay off their loans.
As we have always told our kids "There is NO substitute for hard work and determination".

it has to be congress approve money not some one wanting to be king , and the congress should step in NOW and say not so fast
its not in you power , you can delay it post pone payments but not cancel them . but we know they will ignore the laws and fall in goose step with the poster child of stupidity

Biden is a liar. He can not do this legally with a presidential executive order. If for some reason they declare it legal, then with the stroke of a pen he can strike down the second amendment as well.
There will be some that are ignorant enough to buy into this lie and vote to stay the course of these so called democrats (communist) .

To make it EVEN worse!!.....FJB used a presidential power that was created in 2003 to "legally" do this. That power was yo6 pay off the sudent loans of SOLDIERS who signed up and fought for us after 9/11. What a gigantic POS to take something meant for soldiers, who put their lives on the line for us, and GIVE it to a bunch of liberal pansies. SHDH
Gotta get them VOTES tho!(that way they can cheat less)!
