Remington model 24 technical question
I bought a Remington 24 and it was by far the dirtiest gun I'd seen in awhile but it shot fine. Until I cleaned it! Now it doesn't want to eject the spent cartridge. There is a small ejector (I believe) on the top of the bolt which raises up as the bolt moves rearward. This piece is flush with the bolt face. My question is it supposed to protrude? If this is the wrong forum please feel free to delete.

I don’t have a model 24 but I have a model 241 which is basically the same thing. I believe what your referring to is not the ejector but the Cartridge carrier, and yes it should be flush with the bolt face. The rifle uses a striker firing pin and that acts as the ejector, it will protrude from the bolt face until it is cocked. Does the rifle fire and not eject the shell or does it not even fire at all when you pull the trigger?
