I watched the video in slow motion and it looked like the bad guy started to turn away before the good guy pulled the trigger. Hopefully that will not be a problem for him.

Why would someone rob a store from 50 yards away ? At close range with a shotgun; there is no compromise. Using a slug your shooting an 18mm cannon if your using a 12ga.

Grandpa should have been using Federal Power Shock - Magnum #4 - 41 pellet - buckshot - and aimed for center of mass - problem would have been solved - permanently. Best Regards - AQH

If he hit him in the chest, there at 20 feet, with #8 bird shot he would have died right there on the floor, of the liquor store.
Close range birdshot is a lethal weapon.
At last report, he was in "critical" condition and if that shot hit the middle of the arm bone, he probably has gotten his arm amputated.
