It will stay running... the Fed is trying to slow down the economy..just opposite of what it should be doing..nothing... So they want people out .of work... Interest rates high to buy a home what possibly could go wrong

I thought only the evil republicans could shut down the government. Since they're in the minority....

Considering the present, me think shutdown of government would be a good thing.

But The republicans said they won't vote for it! Do you think the V.P. will do it again for The Democrats?

Will see were the chips will fall soon! I suppose The democrats will abolish the debt ceiling if The republicans won't raise it with a bipartisan vote. When they do it's all she wrote for a sound government.Kicking the can down the road is about over one way or another!

Democrats, Republicans head for showdown on U.S. debt limit

Senate Republicans oppose any increase in federal borrowing authority. Both Schumer and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell used the word "catastrophic" to describe potential economic and financial fallout of a failure to raise the limit, yet McConnell has said Republicans would not support raising the limit without spending cuts.

No. 2 Senate Democrat Dick Durbin told reporters he was worried over the possibility of an historic U.S. debt default.

A default is probably bound to happen eventually. We can blame politician's all we want but it's really the publics fault. They allowed it to happen. They keep electing idiots to office over and over again and often times the same idiots. AOC ring a bell. But she's just symptomatic of the broader problem.

Human nature to buy on credit with debt however The Republic is dead with a circumvented constutional policy of how we make and coin money. Our Fore Fathers & Mothers knew this yet congress and The judicial system went along with it. All of men's governments have and always will be corrupt.

Looks like we got at least 27 Rhinos in The U.S. Senate now! They left out the a few billion that Florida will need to recover from that terrible hurricane they just had!😗

The roughly 10-week spending bill would keep agencies funded at their current levels into the lame duck session of Congress, punting on appropriations until after the midterm elections but creating a new deadline before the new Congress is seated. The measure includes "anomalies" to provide funding increases for certain programs, such as $400 million to increase hiring at the Social Security Administration; $20 million for the Army Corps of Engineers to assist with the water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi; and $1 billion for the Health and Human Services Department's Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. It also includes more than $12 billion for Ukraine aid, matching the White House’s request, and new funding for disaster relief. It would not provide the requested funds to address monkeypox and COVID-19.

Politicians are made up of mostly lawyers. Seems that more and more also have a side gig as magicians. They can conjure up money out of thin air!
