I sure most if not all of us were shocked by the news of Mark's passing, for me is was a very sad post to read as It probably was for most. One of the things I truly enjoyed about Mark was his sense of humor, it was a little twisted imho much like my own and I'm pretty sure he would like to be remembered for it among lots of other good things about him. With that in mind I present this thread as a place to share some of your fond memories of him if you would like.
I'll start with the first line from an email he sent me when He, MJ and HPD were searching for new moderators:
"Hello. First, you aren't in any trouble in the forums!"
He then followed up with this after I told him yes i would be interested in being a moderator:
"Good morning, Bret.
I always start out with the "You haven't done anything wrong" disclaimer...unless of course someone has!"
Please share your fond memories of Mark also.

I got this from Mark awhile back.. Made me laugh when I got it...
LOL! I gave you a "promote" for that. No one knows what promote actually does, but it is the GB forums highest award for posting.
Mark and I also had a few good conversation about our bourbon collections.. I wish we could have met and had a drink together.

I haven't seen any mention about charitable donations in his memory. Instead of us making individual donations, perhaps someone with a business address could receive our checks. Then make one large donation, either to his charity or to his family to help out at this time.

I got the" Hello, first you are not in any trouble on the forum." E-mail. My wife is very sick, and I am desperately trying to get out of the Socialist State of NY back to my native state of Virginia. Mark was so kind and got back to me right away when I informed him that I just would not have the time to be a moderator. I don't know how the "Forum" will ever find someone with all his attributes to fill his shoes. They say no one is indispensable but he is the exception to the rule. -----------------Ray

One night we were messaging each other, and the subject of banned members came up. I told him that it reminded me from my childhood days watching Rudolf the Red nosed Reindeer, and the Island of Misfit toys. Well, he took it from there and we can all see what he did with it. I think it's hilarious, and the title of Mayor given to Dano was over the top.

I'll certainly miss him as he would often sell an M1 Garand and had a collection of them. My condolences.

He's been gone for almost 3 weeks, like many others I'm curious too. Never read or heard him speak of any family.
He has his mother, and a sister out in California yet. He drove out there in May(?) to visit them.
He will be greatly missed by me, and most on this board.

I met with Mark shortly after he came to Florida from California at some local gun shows. He showed his knowledge of a vast majority of guns that we looked at. We had several good communications on and off the forum. He came to my house to meet Kasey on one of her Florida runs and I got to see the mark C. Off the forum. He hated the traffic around Orlando and I had a feeling that he liked the slower country living better. His house was tastefully decorated from the pictures he showed me. I am truly saddened by his passing.

I have no words. I loved Mark, truly. It was probably this next year I was going to buy an M1 from him. I don't even know what else to say. Gone too soon.

I never got to meet Mark in person but we corresponded quite a bit here on the forums. He was a natural leader and always fair in his judgements and actions. I once ribbed him a bit about his decision to make member guesshots a moderator in the year 2085 or some such future date. His sense of humor was right up my alley! 😁
With Mark's passing I feel the great loss of a good friend. This place will just not be the same without him around.

Spoke with him a few times over the telephone regarding purchases I made from him. Always a gentleman and professional.
Have also received a couple of now cherished emails, one during one of my time-outs, and another that was just out of the blue and very much appreciated.
His kind are few and far between, and we all are much richer for having him in our lives for these many years.

I didn't meet him in person, but we had many exchanges via the forums and email.
He was one of the good ones, gone too soon.

Damn, that's tough to hear. Always liked him, and would've loved to have met him in person, and talked M1s for a few hours.

The forum, myself included, will certainly miss him. I still remember him answering someone's post regarding how we chose our GB user names. It looks to have been lost in the forum migration however, I tried to find it.
No idea he was 62. With his knowledge, I would have added another 15-20 years to his actual age.

I joined the forum in 2003 and was inactive from probably 2006 until 2013 or so........after the change-over, I was miraculously able to log in and still use my original handle.
One of the first replies to a post of mine when I came back at that time was from Mark C. He said..."oh yeah, I remember you........welcome back"
I was shocked to hear that he had passed. He was a good mod and a wealth of knowledge on the M1 Garand.

Sad to hear this. I've chatted on the phone with a Mark a couple times. I want to say I spoke with him back in January. I was down in Florida at the time. Never did get a chance to meet him in person.

I am like all of you, Mark will be missed.
Was his passing a sudden thing or was this something that had been coming on for some time?? I also wonder about family left behind.
We swapped more than a few Emails over a lot of years and I was always impressed with Mark. I'm not easily impressed so that says a lot.

The Knowledge of the M1 Garand. WOW. Mark was also very knowledgeable about bourbons. He seemed to have a great feel for people , and was always willing to answer a question on many subjects. Yes, you could say we all loved Mark. He will truly be missed by all...........😪

I do not remember in the 22 yrs or so of being on here ever getting or sending a email to or from him which is a Good thing over all . No news is good news
I will miss his input and his knowledge on the m1 and related gun stories
And of course his sense of humor .it really shined when having to hammer some one or deporting to the misfit isle
