I'm using AT&T also and don't like the latest version from about 2 years ago. I would like to change too but I've had the same e-mail address for 30+ years and just can't change.

Jeff, you summed up my problem perfectly. I have had the same Email address for just about 25 years. My address is a combination my wife's, our two children and me using the first letter of our first names and the first letter of our last name, so it is a very personal address.

I use @comcast but that's because they're my internet provider. If your provider offers email service, look into it.

Edit: if AT&T is your provider, that advice doesn't help. There's always gmail, if you don't mind all the tracking. To stay truly anonymous, you can sign up for the new duck duck go email forwarding service. They screen out your personal info both in and out. Read about it here to see if it might interest you...

There are tons of e-mail providers out there. One of the three I use is Run Box.

I have used Gmail for years with no issues.

Believe it or not, my Rocketmail e-mail account on Yahoo has been problem free for some 15 years or so.

    Free email providers worth considering:

    gmail.com

    outlook.com

    mail.com (one of the oldest)

    yahoo.com

Another option is if your internet is also through ATT, you can have your email forwarded to another company so you don't have to directly mess with ATT.

Are you logging into the webmail each time or do you use a program such as Outlook to download and manage your email? Reason I ask is generally speaking using a mail client like Outlook will be less problematic. Also, if you run any type of program that cleans temp files and cookies from your computer can certainly cause one to have to constantly do what you others describe. This generally only affects logging in via a browser and would not affect if using Outlook or the like.

I have a similar problem with ATT mail. About 2 weeks in it lock me out. I can't change the password. I call ATT to talk to someone. They will do something, and say try it now. At this point I can log in with a different password. This has ben going on for 6 months. Its enough to p.o. the Pope.

I did not sign into a yahoo account for a few years and then found a migrated folder with the info and successfully signed in. They had deleted all the emails.
