Probably the danger of mud flows from it's melting glaciers would be more dangerous than fires from lava. There are a lot of people that have unwisely built homes on top of the past mud flows and that ain't good. Mother Nature can be a cruel and unforgiving mistress. Bob

Didn't watch the vid, but that does not look like a cloud in the still picture. That's not how orographic clouds form.
Mt Ranier is classed as an active volcano, so gas venting ought to be expected. It does not necessarily forecast an imminent eruption, but it doesn't rule one out, either. In the absence of magmatic earth tremors, the chances of an eruption are slim.

BobJudy, nothing scientific just a saying. Some of the stuff I have read and past events is the toxic hot gas that rushes forward at ground level ? that almost no one can escape. A real killer.-------Ray

I've seen some of the videos of pyroclastic flows, which are a mixture of gases, ash and lava. Those can go up to 100mph and incinerate and crush everything in their path. Typically they can go up to about 10 miles. Mega scary!
The mud flows or lahars only go about half that fast but can go for several times the distance of the pyroclastic flows. They are described as an up to 100 foot thick river of concrete. They need water to exist and Ranier has plenty because of all of its glaciers. Another good reason to live in Michigan - no volcanoes! Bob

It all boils down too, it’s a planet, and man cannot control weather or volcanos any more than he can control ocean tides. All we can do is study the actions of such energy.
