Electricity for automobiles
Now that California has passed a law to prohibit the sale of gasoline powered cars and trucks, where is the extra electricity going to come from? I don't believe wind and light can deliver that much juice. What say you?
They are already short with blackouts etc.

Brooks Weisblat of YouTubeâs DragTimes channel has been having a blast with his Tesla Model S Plaid, taking the vehicle to the track and racing it against practically every car willing to step up against it. In a recent video, the veteran drag racer decided to test how well the Model S Plaid would perform when the vehicleâs battery was just at 20%. The test, according to Weisblat, was performed after 40 quarter-mile runs since each launch consumed about 2% of the Plaidâs battery. Much to his surprise, the Model S Plaid performed shockingly well. Despite its low battery level and the run being its 41st journey through the drag strip, the Tesla was still able to finish the quarter-mile in 9.94 seconds at 136.40 mph.

So now at the the drag strip the new smell will be ozone and the sound of silence? Call me old fashioned, but I want to feel the ground and air shake followed by the pleasant smell of nitromethane fuel mix in the air myself.

What a great marketing strategy, 0-60 and 1/4 mile drag race times, because that is so important in the real world of motoring, and will go so very far in the endeavor to save the planet.
Was watching All Girls Garage yesterday, and they were testing a system installed by Borla (the aftermarket exhaust company) on a Tesla whateverthehell that had audio speakers built into the car to make exhaust sound and feel.
The system is programable via crapfone to mimick any engine sound that you wish.
Hope this stuff works out for everybody so inclined.

I never put a stop watch on the Tesla, but my brother likes to show off, and we will be rolling down the interstate at 75 mph, out in the country where the lanes are clear, and he will floor it and it makes your head snap back in to the headrest.
We will be up to 95 in an instant. The Tesla is really fast, I am not surprised it is kicking butt at the drag strip.

By everything holy, and this is the last time I will say it, I have been there and done that, you can charge a Tesla in 40 minutes, max, at a Tesla Supercharger.
Well great. I can refuel my pickup in less than 5 minutes and be on my way. If I have to add 40 minutes to every 300 miles I drive, I'm not using that method of transportation.

It's not surprising to anyone... or shouldn't be. Electric motors have the maximum torque at 0 rpm. Fast starts are calk walks. The hard part truly is designing the vehicle so thing doesn't rip apart off the starting line.

I couldn't agree more. As great a car as it is for short trips, the Tesla is unfit for long trips.

I don't believe that for a second. My brother was told 2 years ago that his new Tesla had a range of 310 miles. And it did, IF you charge the battery all the way, and IF it is a cloudy 68 degree day and you are running neither a/c or heat.
BUT if you always charge the battery all the way you will fatally damage the battery. So. brother only charges to 80 percent, as all rational Tesla owners do. So on a good day he has a range of 240 miles. Throw in a/c on a 90 degree day, you get 140 miles max.
The car is no good for long trips but it is great for trips around town.
If you don't like the Tesla then please don't buy one, it won't hurt my feelings. I am just giving real world data on a Tesla that I frequently ride around in. Elon Musk is doing something right, I read that in a few years Tesla will be the number one selling vehicle in the world.

If they'd get the price down to under $30,000 I'd buy a Tesla. I never go anywhere what I can't get home in the same day.

What worries me about all you nay-sayers about electric motion of vehicles is you forget the unlimited power of Fairy dust and Unicorn farts. Those two items alone are enough to power the Universe Forever.
