Electricity for automobiles
Now that California has passed a law to prohibit the sale of gasoline powered cars and trucks, where is the extra electricity going to come from? I don't believe wind and light can deliver that much juice. What say you?
They are already short with blackouts etc.

We just shut down our coal fired plant in the four corners area which supplied Cal. So their problems get worse, liberal thinking will sink us all.

Whenever I mention this, some lib says we are in transition so we should expect some problems. My response to that is that their "transition" should be infrastructure first and then EVs. But like most stuff the libs get it backwards. This generation of libs is so spoiled by instant gratification they have no patience to actually do the preparation first. Bob

They don't really care.. Galvin Newsome will be President so the people of California don't really matter anymore..

...If I lived in that God forsaken state, I'd move...if I had been unfortunate enough to be in that Liberal La-La land, I would have moved a long time ago...had an Uncle who lived in Orange County, visited him once, entire place smells of Libs...

I agree with BobJudy. This will have to be a slow, gradual change. The technology will improve over time but we are not there yet.

I say let them market drive the change.

A chat with my state senator revealed that a bunch of power plants would need to be built here in MN, but no plans for them to be built, no idea what would power them, etc etc. Yet gas vehicles are to be legislated out of existence all over the country & beyond. The inanity of it all is stunning.

Typical Californians don't know where their electricity comes from (other than the wall). They don't know that the electricity comes from coal fire plants from other states.
Whatever crap newsome lays out for 2035 he won't be here in California (he'll be in D.C. as the president or aunty finestein or pelosi's old jobs).
After 2035 we'll be like the crew of The Humungus ("Mad Max 2") pestering folks in Arizona, Nevada and Oregon for gazoline.
I'm also wondering if all the fuel stations/big oil suing the state? I'm wondering all the Chinese made batteries will have self destruct switch? Can't wait for the EMP over the state to throw us back into 1873.

Nuclear is the only way to go

Charging an EV car isn't like filling your tank with gas it takes a long time.

A good chunk of the money they're throwing at solar and wind should be going to fusion research, with fission as the 'bridge' until we can get to functional fusion.

True, until they come up with replaceable battery packs like for your electric tools. The issue until then won't be recharge time, but recharging at which time. The current advise to charge your car battery during "off peak hours" will turn those into the HIGH peak hours when everybody is doing it.
There is no viable method, either existent or predicted which will support having the majority of cars fully electric. It's a crazy pipedream as doomed as socialism.

Another thing about EV's are you are told not to "Top Off" your battery. The battery operates best from 20-80% charge especially in very hot or cold environments. Most of the EV's charging times are between 5-10 hrs and the distance they can travel is limited by what accessories are being used, like the heater or AC.

Just me
I hope the entire state goes belly up havre to sit in the dark and run out of water.
all other states should refuse to sell electric to kal. and not allow any water to be redirected to them .
all major company's should say no business dealings or goods will be sold until the laws are revolked
Put pressure on the pos politicians trying to be dictators

They don't want you driving and that is the point.

AND I've noticed that the Liberial BS is being taught (brain washed) in colleges.
How sad.
Not any hope in the future for Kalifornia's.
Beam me up Scotty, no intelligent life can be found in Kalif. They are worshiping Pelosia and Brandon words.

Now United Airlines is going for electric vertical takeoff 4-person taxis between urban centers and airports.

Constantly seeing on news about the high temperatures and good chance of rolling blackouts in Kalif from the current electrical grid not keeping up with demand.
I then AS A REDNECK think. Why don't them Kalif Liberials convert immediately to Greta and Brandons windmills and solar power and shut down them old bad polluting current electrical grids that is causing all their problems and get more electrical vec's. Shutting down the current polluting electrical grids should also immediately allow the Lake Mead to start filling with water.
It seems them people in Kalif need to start doing what they are thinking and preaching about how to corrrect their enviroment.

It takes more than an hour to recharge the car.

I think it is deeper than that, Randy. There is a much closer public/private relationship between electricity providers than fossil fuel providers. While one of the results will be limiting driving, the goal is the establishment of a method by which to control behavior in general.
Smart meters are being pushed in most areas. These will be used to enforce compliance to any tyrannical whim that is deemed ‘for the common good’.

I have to agree with Don, and also I think some of this stupidity is to see just how far they can push the public and get away with it.......

That is precisely what I was getting at. They want to control you. Driving cars on the roadways represents freedom-- freedom of movement specifically. They don't want that. At best they want you forced into mass transit. At the worst they just want you gone.

By everything holy, and this is the last time I will say it, I have been there and done that, you can charge a Tesla in 40 minutes, max, at a Tesla Supercharger.

I can go into ANY gas station and if I’m in a hurry can be back on the road in under six minutes.

That is great as a daily commuter, and is very useful and a great option for that. The Climate Change Anarchists only need to recognize that until we reach the point where you can drive all day and charge overnight, we need to maintain the fossil fuel Infrastructure in an efficient, cost effective way.
Their thinking may evolve, but at present they refuse to understand that the technology is not here yet, and that our electrical grid cannot even handle 25% electric vehicles.

This sorta sums up my thoughts about "green energy".
Germany: Wind turbine collapses hours before official launch
BERLIN (AP) — Officials in Germany are investigating why a huge wind turbine collapsed just hours before it was due to be officially inaugurated. The turbine, whose rotor blades reach a height of 239 meters (784 feet), toppled over late Wednesday in a forest near the western town of Haltern.BTW........a short search will reveal many more links/videos online. One would think they are falling like dominoes.

We need a Model A Ford of EV's. Millions of Electric Mopeds on the streets of Asia. Make a viable future for the planet.
