Split 8 face cords by hand over the past 2 winters. Our Wisc. cold winter weather really makes in an easy job😉

Here you can cut wood in the NF ,,,,,, the Forest Service will designate the area and for a small fee, go cut it. Now, the wilderness area is a totally different story.

Yep, but you better have your permit or Piss-Fir-Willy (Forest Circus LEO) will give you a ticket.

Makes me sad ,,,,,, when I moved to Colorado I left 21 cords of white/red oak, pecan and ash behind. 😫

    White oak splits super easy

I dont know about super easy. Red Oak and Maple beats it by far. If its straight grained its ok but Im working on a 29 full cord piie now and my opinion is a bit different if the hammers will allow me to mildly disagree!

Nice, ... it would be good to let it season a little.

Yeah, this is for next year. I talked to a lady yesterday that needs some Ash trees removed. Emerald ash borer killed them.

I love to cut up and split ash. All my ash trees are dead. I cut a standing dead ash last year and it was only 27 percent moisture, it only needed a few months in the woodpile and it was ready to burn in the Jotul.
