27° tonight, going to 22° overnight next 4-5 nights.
Woodstove loaded to fire up, when I get home from work around 9:20 pm.
Peak color gone, most leaves dropping.

Spent $5K in July of 2020 on a "High Efficiency" Pacific Energy Woodstove in combination with a pretty good amount of chimney work and a SS liner to mitigate Chimney fires. $2K of that was for the chimney work. Dual thermostatic controled blowers, glass front door to enjoy the ambiance of the fire. It throws out some heat. Really been enjoying it. 👍
I upgraded from a Fisher Grandpa model double door, two tiered woodstove. Only radiated heat, no blowers. I had had a chimney fire a few years before, that scared me pretty good. My large rock chimney was big enough to get inside the fireplace and stand up. Cracks (visible) inside due to settling/earthquakes, what not, allowed the chimney fire (that was feeding off creosote) to really get going and threaten my house. I could clean the chimney part but not this area where it opened up as it progressed down to the fireplace. I had a big steel plate cut to fit in the fireplace opening, sealed with (orange) fire proof foam that also held it in place. Strategically cut hole to feed the Fisher woodstove pipe to exit through.
My house is a difficult to heat design. A three story tall extremely steep pitched A-frame (Ski chalet style.) Sitti g here in the living room, you can look up three stories to open beams and see the tongue and groove knotty pine. All the heat wants to go up to the peak. Ceiling fan just above the couch, 1 1/2 story level moves the air and brings the heat down, somewhat. 3rd story loft, two 2nd story bedrooms and a Master downstairs. Back of the house is (about) 80+% large glass windows looking out to the mountain pond, the woods and mountains.
Really beautiful.

FWIW: A friend installed & serviced HV/AC systems. His house had a high peaked ceiling, just not fancy. Instead of trying to blow the hot air down, he installed a vent tube that blew the cool air from the floor to the peak. He said that the cooler air would mix with the warm air, pushing it down & even it out.

Try reversing the fan direction, and push the cold air up, forcing the warm air down which will also reduce the felt draft on you and buddy.

Buddy usually does not cut one that is obnoxious.
I had a 13 yr. old Boston Terrier that could clear a room. The temperature would actually change (rise) when it swept over you. (Miss you Bess.) Awesome frisbee dog. (But) Capable of Absolutely disgusting "Dog Farts." 😝
