Dry Needling Therapy
After living with sciatic nerve pain down my right leg since last years deer season, I started doing physical therapy about a month ago. Thanks VA!
The therapist turned me on to dry needling where he inserts tiny long needles into the various nerve effected muscle groups that are hooked up to low voltage. An advanced form of acupuncture.
I was a bit skeptical at first but have to say so far this therapy is really working for me! Pain levels have been low if not totally gone and I have been doing a bit of heavy type work stuff that I'd been avoiding for some time.
Anyone ever had this done or even heard about it? I highly recommend giving it a try as apposed to invasive surgeries!

Great! I love alternate therapy, such as Chiropractor.
I did regular acupuncture for 2 sessions but it didn't help much. Still, worth a try, I know a guy who says acupuncture saved his right arm.

I had terrible sciatica about 17 years ago and had tried everything Western medicine had to offer. I finally tried acupuncture. After the first treatment the pain was reduced by probably 90% and after the second (a week later) it was gone and it's never been back.
Sure made a believer out of me.

I am happy to hear that treatment worked for you. To save some money you might try grabbing a 50 mile electric cattle fence charger and compare the results. 😉

Had a Frozen Shoulder, a few years back. Yes the Dry Needling helped, Had 2 sessions and it was almost back to range of motion. But.. sore from the nerves tingling. Felt like some ome punched me in the back.
Would do if I needed it again.

I had sciatica six years ago. Almost couldn't walk. Therapy for eight weeks took the pain away. Walking everyday keeps it from reacurring.

Gives me flashbacks to when my grandmother would whip out her knitting needles to get us grandkids whipped into shape.

I was recently having some nerve related shoulder pain. Daughter recommended accupuncture. After 4 sessions........all symptoms relieved.
I was skeptical.........but it sure did work.

So far, I've undergone 5 needling sessions with 2 more scheduled for next week. May be a bit of over-kill as my pain has about all gone away. Not really sure if my therapist plans to needle me on both appointments. He wants to set me up with an at home self care exercise plan to follow daily for stretching out those affected muscles.
Sadly, he told me that this needling therapy is neither recognized nor even covered by most health insurance companies! Said that the VA is one of the very few that will pay for it! Guess that I'm very fortunate there.
