Goodness, that's a cross between a possum and a cornmonkey, called a possmonk pound for pound one of the most fierce creatures in the USA, LOWER 48.

Just stealing eggs I would gave it a pass or a ride to a new home . Yes I have sent my share to a early grave but stealing eggs not a capital offense. Lol
Many opossums I have just grabbed bare handed no problems, now that one I would have worn a pare of gloves
I agree he is holing it close to the camera making look bigger than it is
Still a huge old opossum to run across
