Best book for currant gun values
With the rapidly changing values, what do most people nowadays think the best book of gun values is. I always liked the Blue Book, but the market is covered with new books. I use auction prices, but sometimes you need the written type to go to.

CURRENT prices are all over the board changing imo weekly. I have seen item not get the opening bid and then run again next week and go over 2-400 above it. TIMING is a big factor also. When I sell some of my stuff I go to past auctions and go lower than the lowest one sold, that's my idea of selling, I want to SELL it at a loss so be it. Blue Books are a info finder to me not a real value finder.

Books are just one person's opinion. Prices even vary by region.
The value of a firearm is exactaly the most you will give for it and the very least the seller will take.
Both are determined buy how bad the buyer wants it and seller needs money.

You cannot get the value of a gun from a book. You can get "insurance" value, but even that is not used when making a claim....rather, they make you look up sold items and show proof of what something sells for. So, books are pretty much useless except for information on history or configurations.

Use to be a gun shop near here. Folks would take guns to sell to them.
Out came an outdated blue book, About 20% of the BB value was his buying price.

Its really difficult to bid on something if you dont deal with guns everyday. Ive missed out on some good deals because I couldnt determine if the asking price was realistic or not. My loss I guess.

Gun.prices are highly localized . Beat all to pieces ,looks like a fence post browning A5 s sell for north of $800.00 around here. You don't even want to think about a Belgian made sweet 16 for less than $1500.00

The major problems with books is that they are out of date even before they are published. It takes a year to compile all of the figures for the 2500+ pages in the blue book. By the time it comes put some of those figures are a year old. Add in things like Obama, the pandemic, Biden, etc..., after publication and your quotes have become meaningless. Like Grasshopper said they are good for reference about models, years of production, rare variations and so on but not very accurate for prices. Bob

I believe it is only bow season on currants right now... I've heard the red one are the best, but I've never tried them myself.
