lost another old friend
when I was much younger I befriended a fellow that became like a brother to me , ( RIP Ronnie ) of course I got to know his family he had 3 brothers and a sister .
for a short time him and him his younger brother and younger sister all stayed at my parents house . their mom was having $$ problems and the kids stayed with us .
my parents never turned any one away or failed to feed any one needing help at one time we had 5 or 6 other friends staying with us some my friends and some one of my sisters friends
over the years countless relatives over the years that would stay until they got a job and moved on . southern hospitality at its finest
my parents had little to nothing but would share it . our house was tiny and there was 6 of us and it was tight just for our family then add the guest we would have people in the floor. on the couch in chairs any where Thay could find a space to sleep . I look back now at how giving my parents were and never complained it was a way of life for them to share what ever Thay had
OK so on with the story three of the brothers have passed on over the last several years today I read about Terry he was the youngest son , he still has a brother and his sister are still with us amazing his mom is also still alive she has had such a tough life and losing her husband ( he was a vet but when I met him his mind was gone sad to say , dementia had taken it and he was in the VA hospital ) and three of her sons sure has not helped . all are / were good people do any ting for any one

I am sorry for the long story I just do not sleep very well and was reading the local obits and Terrys showed up today . I will go to his viewing service on Monday to pay my respects
every time I lose a old friend I lose a small part of my self if that makes any sense .
just venting my thoughts and headed off to bed now .
I know we all have to go . and yes I am happy I am still around to keep their memories and stories alive

Sorry for your loss D\R. Seems that I have more friends that are gone than there are still alive. Your family's openness to help others with a roof and a meal or three reminds me of my own folks and the way things were back in the 60's and early 70's. I remember coming home on leave and having to find myself a place on the floor to sleep. There was a friend of a younger brother in my old bed! 🙂 Our small 3 bedroom place housed 9 siblings that were still at home. My dad constructed triple decker bunks on two sides of a room. He was an old Navy man and utilized space like a submarine! I scratch my head sometimes wondering how we all got along so well only having a single bathroom!
It was a great life, filled with great memories. All the old friends and family members I miss have put a lot of stuff about me into God's ear, so I know that He is looking out for me. At least that is how my grief develops over time. To some, it may sound a bit nutty but I have found comfort in those thoughts.

Sorry for your loss. It sure is one of the hardest parts about getting older when one of those important folks in your life passes on. Remember the good times, the hard times and focus on the things you learned along the way..
