Generally speaking, you have an ABS module and an ABS Sensor feeding the module. You may only have a single ABS sensor or it could be one per wheel.

They should help you diagnose which is the problem (module or sensor).

Hopefully, it's just a loose ground wire, maybe at the battery itself. That would be common to everything lighting up. Unlikely each of those sensors/ lights has an individual problem. Good luck. Let us know the finding.

I figured some kind of electrical glitch, due to multiple lights lighting up all at once. A singular light, I can understand.

I figured it might be related to my installing my front winch the other day, fed the +/- cables up to the battery and placed them off to the side. (I still have to get to the rearmost 2 square nuts that slid in to pockets on the bottom of winch, with the grade 8 bolts and lockwashers. (I also have a HD Battery connection with multiple nuts/bolts to hook all my various accessories up to, to mount onto my battery.) The bottom of the bumper is boxed in and I can not figure out how to get to the rear most portion of the Winch from underneath. Spent hours trying to get to things, finally had to walk away from it. (Long, aggravating story.) Smittybilt XCR bumper, Smittybilt XCR Winch.

Anyway, this am, I got under the hood, thinking that might be part of the problem. (a short.) Had some thin 1/8" rubber that I had cut a piece out and wrapped each cable end in it and duct taped it. No Joy.

I had that happen before. It was my alternator. But that's been years ago. On a Subaru. I know nothing about automotive electric systems.

ABS wheel sensor. Maybe the clock spring in the steering column. In fact I think there is a recall on those clock springs.

    hard to guess

like you say start with a local place running a code search see what comes up

I do not know what years as I never had one or got that interested to follow up but there use to be a lot of negative feedback about the wiring harnesses in jeeps causing nightmares to find and repair

I hope thats not your case and it just a bad sensor or ground the " computer-controlled / supported system cars have lots of grounds and a little corrosion on just one of them can really play heck with the system

Last time my Grand Cherokee did that it was alternator

    Just for grins give this a try;

    • Before doing anything else, make sure to cut the wheel all the way right twice, left twice, and then to the center.ย This can recalibrate the steering system (see video above).

    It's a quick and easy reset for the steering sensor that comes from this article;

Jeep Grand Cherokee: ESP BAS Light โ†’ Meaning & Diagnosis | Drivetrain Resource
The ESP BAS light is a trouble indicator light that indicates that there is an issue with your Jeep Grand Cherokee's Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and/or your Brake Assist Program (BAS). These systems are important to the safety of your Grand Cherokee. Fixing them should be a top priority. We cover how to diagnose

It wouldn't cost anything to try and may solve the issue.

    Then again, it may not!

Disconnect the winch from the battery and see if it goes away

Had the same thing happen on my 2006 Commander. Turned out to be an intermittent short in the ignition switch.

Get a multi meter and see if your alternator is working(ie check the battery with engine turned off then check it while running, it should be about 12v off and 14 or so running.) I this happen to me in another vehicle.

The last time my SUV dash lit up sorta like that......it was the gas cap o-ring gasket.

    But.....my truck is a Toyota 4Runner.

O'Reilly's code reader should tell the story.

my wifes SUV just did that few weeks back, bunch of lights came on but the one that stayed on was the all wheel drive light, it does have a info screen and it said improper function all wheel drive. as 62vid said it was the gas cap !!! wasn't tightened enough. screwed it down tight and the light went off next day,.......

Cables not hooked up to the battery from the winch yet. Placed off to the side. (Ends now wrapped in rubber.) Waiting to install my HD battery terminal to hook various accessories up to it all at one time. (2 sets of auxillary lights, winch, etc.)

Appreciate all the various insights and suggestions.

(I had no idea what ESP/BAR was.)

That happened in my old Buick SUV, I had a new alternator put on but it did not produce enough power under a load. Put a bigger, more amps? on and it solved the issue.

Contact the IT / Re-Boot Dept. Or in other words, disconnect the battery for a few minutes & see if it goes back to normal when you reconnect the 12v.

Sounds like a bad alternator. My Nissan did the same thing when the alternator died.

I hear you @Toolman286, next step on the agenda. (It's in the 20ยฐ's for the next several days though.) Although if it is the alternator, (as I suspect) it will come right back on. Need to get to the root cause.

Really need to take it to O'Reilly's to slap a code reader on it. (Instead) I Cleaned out the woodstove, removed the internal baffle/catalytic converter and ran the shop vac hose about 5' up the pipe, cleaning it out. Really need to get up on a ladder and remove the external cap and screen. It's choking it down.

Fire going now, but it's having difficulty taking off. 19-21ยฐ tonight. Wanted the fire going. 1st snow of the season last night. (Just a dusting.)

My friend's wife's Nissan Pathfinder did that last veek. Turns out, squirrels has chewed up some wires. Cost him $700 for the dealer to splice the wires back.

You can buy a decent code reader for $25ish these days on the amazon........well worth having on hand.

Wheel speed sensor went bad, or wire was broken.

If you try the cruise control, it won't work either.

Box store code reader SHOULD be able to tell you which sensor is bad.

Let us know what you find.

    Ken

I am sure you will but let us know what you find out that's causing the problem with your jeep

1st Code reader could not identify problem. A more sophisticated Code reader identified it as a "Left Rear Wheel Sensor." Good news, could have been a $3-400 alternator. Got stuff for a full synthetic oil change with filter and a foaming K&N fikter cleaner with a re-oil kit. (Did not know that O'Reilly's does 10% off for Veterans.) I had my Veterans BB Cap on. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

Buddy got Ton's of petting and copious treats. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

Got my oil changed on the way home.

(Then when I backed in to my driveway,) Popped the glovebox to put receipts in it, found a big mouse nest. While grabbing all that stuff out, my Jeep rolled backwards into my overhead garage door. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿค• After smacking a few dents out, I am ready to get up on the extension ladder and remove/clean the top cap and screen to my chimney/woodstove.

Geez..................................................Life. You gotta Love it. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

You had a heck of a day, geez. Glad they found the source of the problem.

Get rid of those mice or you'll have real problems.

  • Ditch-Runner

good to know, at least a easy fix to what it could have been

now get rid of the mice They can take out a electrical system in short order

    0
  • 62vld2042

About those mice.......you might want to check the cowl inlet, under the rear of the hood, for the dash heater/ac blower.

Seems that on my 4Runner and others, the mice find their way into the dash and down THROUGH the cabin air filter.......to sit on top of the blower motor impeller. From there, who knows where they can get to?

And people wonder why the heater/ac doesn't work.

Let's not even get into their bright idea......of using a SOY based ingredient in the electrical wiring insulation.

What a bunch of Liars. Called the dealership (Stealership) where I bought my Jeep @23K mi. It now has 48K mi. "Lifetime Bumper to Bumper Warranty, if you do your Service work and oil changes through us." Done.

Called and relayed my problem. Was told, "No your Warranty expired at 36K mi. What a bunch of Lying Crooks.

Done with them. They will NEVER see me again.

*They try and buy my Jeep, everytime I go in there, because it has been nicely modified and is a r ockin' low mi. Jeep. I get Ton's of compliments on it. "The Owner spotted your Jeep, would like to buy it and have it parked on the big rock pile up by the road." I pretty much have always told them, "You screwed me once, why would I give you another chance?" Shuts them right up.

    Freakin' Crooks.

*A new Wheel Cylinder runs $29.95 through O'Reilly's. Pretty Stupid to lose a Customer over that.

    They did you wrong.

  • Toolman286

Call Jeep or the warranty company. I have the lifetime warranty on a 2012 & a few years ago they replaced the water pump at 40,000+. Of course they billed the co for Items I know weren't bad. Oh, & $80 for a fan belt. After that they failed to tighten the drain plug & filter on an oil change. I got 2 free oil changes after that & was glad I had the email from the manager. Then another dealer did the same thing. Even if they think they're going to replace an engine on warranty, they're wrong if it's their fault.
