rusted thru after 10 years or glassware etched or cracked and all leading metal surfaces laid bare by the sand and rocks in a couple years in states like montana that don't use salt? take your pick. bondo a fender after 10 years or replace windshields yearly and repaint every 3 years.

South ya say??? I'll have ya know I'm in the south now, and not only south but west too, southwest. Why if I was any more south I'd be in Wyoming for crying out loud.

Whenever I used to travel a lot for a living, people would ask me where I'm from originally Knowing that I was living (and still do) live in Texas, but I don't have a definitive "Texas accent" according to them... I would answer that over the years I had lived in multiple Western and Sothern states along with several years in Germany, but was originally from "The South" "Southern Cal" that is! They would usually just look kinda dumb-founded and say OK...

I carried my mid-west, Missouri, accent for a long time. People would always ask where I was from, not so much now days. If we start talking about how many quatters I have, or if the warsh is done, ect. then they ask again.

or if the warsh is done , I use the term warsh all the time and get lots of grief from family and friends for it 😉
guess I picked it up from the dozen or so years i spent living in KS, a little in Missouri and Neb.

Never considered that I even had an accent until I lived for a short time in SW Virginia. I stopped at a small gunshop just outside of Galax. Talking to the owner with a few questions, he just stood there without any answers. Then asked me where I was from. Northern lower Michigan, I replied. Ahhhh! He said with a funny smile.
It was those "by golly" endings to my sentences that gave me away! 😁
Never been to a friendlier place in my life!

Since my retirement, I've considered the idea of hibernating through those long winter months but unfortunately those dang medical appointments keep screwing up those plans!
I have had success bulking up my body fat reserves very well without even having to prep up long lasting food supplies or hanging hams from the man-cave ceiling. 😁

Grandpa was a saw miller in Central Virginia and never worried about the ice on the roads. You see he had no car. Was picked up by sawmill owner. He stayed warm next to the pot bellied stove and spit his tobacco juice in the spit toon next to it. Once in a hundred times he would miss and the juice would hit that red hot stove. Geeze what a smell. If he needed to go to the store, he hooked up Maggie to the wagon and off he would go after he warmed up and had his chaw of tobacco and the ice melted.--------------------------Ray
