Dodged a Major Bullet -
Had the alarm set to get up every few hours and check sinks (left stream running) flush toilet, re-load woodstove etc.
Around 3:40am did the above, toilet not filling back up. (Bummer.) Not much I could do about it. Did turn on the Heat Pump for the under house duct work minor heat it generates. (Set it to Emergency Heat, so the heat coil is activated.) Tried to get back to sleep, but was stressing. Figured those pipes would get busted all to heck over the next few days. (Then what?)
Had filled it up by the tub so I could flush it last night, but left it empty so it could try to re-fill if possible. Woke up this morning and it had filled and was working. Had not thought to set it slightly flowing like the sinks, but have done so now. 👍
I guess the under house duct work offered just enough residual heat to free it up. Either that or my Prayers were heard. Whew. Have to leave the house for work today shortly.

Lot of that going around. Got up yesterday flushed the toilet, it flushed but didn’t fill up. Sink and bath tub seemed to work but not the toilet. Had to crawl under the crawl space with heat gun and got it working, and left space heater in crawl space to keep thawed. Ran into town and bought 9 foot heat tap and wrapped heat tap and pipe with insulation. Got maybe 2 hours sleep last night thinking about it, would get up and flush the toilet to make sure it was working. I will take a Lorazepam to night before I go to bed make sure I sleep, hate being stressed and tired. On the bright side, only 83 days till spring, can’t come soon enough. Anymore I hate winter. Hope you stay thawed out, and Merry Christmas.
PS. I was lucky in that I have copper pipes.

Was 52° in the front bathroom when I got home from work around 7pm, 55° in the living room. The woodstove had clicked off, (The blowers) when the wood burned down. I fired up the Kerosene heater that sits on an octagon pedestal not quite center of the living room. (1st time this year.) I save it for the brutally cold days. (Should have had it going last night.) (-5°) Have it turned down as low as it will go. (It will usually run about 12 hours like that.)
Re-stoked the fireplace before that. Just loaded it up and turned the air intake down low. Good for around 6-8 hours like that. Will wake up a couple times overnight to check things. Just took my OTC sleep meds. Hope to hit the bed in about 1/2 hour.
Feel much better with the toilet adj. to run. 🤞
*Heat pumps are about worthless when it gets this cold. Hardly puts off any heat at all. I have various types of radiant oil filled radiator heaters, and tower fan Infrared units etc scattered throughout the house.

as for me 😲 one of our bathrooms is facing the west out side wall direct hit with the current storm
and well I have been checking and letting the water run to be safe all thru the house
got bit in the butt on this one. th e sink and toilet all fine however the shower / tub faucet not so much did not leave it running my fault ,,😥😫 ice split a piece of pvc pipe about 12" long the full length and shattered one end of it into several pieces
it had pipe insulation and surrounded with the normal house insulation, and I thought protected as its been fine for years . but wrong 😕mother nature bit me with the 30 to 50 MPH winds and 30 below
all I could do tonight was cut out the bad section and top it with a shut off valve so I can have water for all the rest of the house
I had shut off valves on the lines but of course it busted on the side that feeds it . wrong side of the valve for me😫
I keep a lot of stuff here of course the one connector I needed nope not to be found 😟
so Monday off to Menard's or lows

My bathroom is also facing West. The North/West corner. The house is down to pretty much the ground at that corner. No way to crawl in under the house and get to the pipes. All the pipes run along the Northern wall. Maybe 8" off the ground with progressively less space as you move towards the front of the house. Where you enter the crawl space on the South side, it is maybe1 1/2 to 2' feet off the ground, with progressively less overhead as you crawl towards the North side. 1st time I tried it, it was an obvious no- go. 😮
No insulation on the PVC pipes. As I've said before I fugure they must have framed the floor, stepped through the framing and plumbed it, then put the floor down. Who does that?
The two times I have had to work on it, I have had to pull away the lower sidewall, laid down on the ground, reach in as far as I can and work blind. A major pain in the butt.
I was told that my house was made as a Mtn. getaway for people who's main house was on the coast. I figure their thoughts were that they would just drain the system and not be there in the Winter time. I would love to re-do it all in Pex. Can't figure out how.

My neighbor wasn't so lucky. He was gone for a week. He had to hire Serve Pro to clean up the mess while stayed with friends.

Ken , i have done undergouse plumbing for over 40 years . Sometimes you have to dig trenches under the house to get access . Definitely a job nowadays for a young man . You may need to bite the bullet and hire someone .

A guy I worked with got tired of his pipes freezing all the time so he re-routed them to his interior walls. I mean right there on the walls inside the house. They didn't freeze any more.

These freezing events are pretty rare in places where normal temps are usually not that cold. In those rare times I always recommend keeping a "Just In Case" addition to your SHTF predicaments.
😁 Having such a "Just In Case" supply will give you further incentive to do something to keep your beer from freezing!!! 😂

Only good use of PBR is to open a can and take a big swig, then top it off with some Johnny Walker red...
Sorry seeing this pictures of PBR brought back some memories of my days in the service hanging with guys just back from Vietnam... those guys could get you feeling good in less than 20 minutes... ahh those were the days....🤣
