Your right @jimdeere, was the same here. I kept getting up to check the temp and the woodstove. It started blowing around 3:30 am. Sounded like we were getting rain. Woke up to about an inch of snow and 19°.

It has dropped to low 14° (almost 13°) now. Been snowing sideways, really windy. Headed for -3 to -5° tonight. Glad I'm off. Got the woodstove going, brought plenty of wood in a day or so ago. @jimdeere is a little N of me, I'm sure he is getting the same.

    * I've got a LaCross Scientific Weather Station with a remote outside. 👍

I don't remember last time it was this cold

Right now -8 and wind chill at -36

To quote a old phrase baby it's cold out there

I have our pellet stove running and our propane furnace plus a couple electric heaters going just to squeeze out 72 in the house right now

We're on the east side of the Appalachian Mtns. from Ken & Jim. We were woken up at 6am with high winds, but it was still at 41*. Power has been blipping all morning, but it's still at 31*. I've got the wood stove ready to light. First I have to go swap out a water heater at a rental.

Don't rely on woodstoves as only heat. If you have a furnace run it awhile to. It will circulate warm air evenly, and through basements/ crawl spaces to keep water lines from freezing. Best to you.

Joe, Our air return for the main floor is above the room with the wood stove. I put a louver in so I could draw in & circulate the warm air. I also put in a Rube Goldberg 6" vent tube from the top of the stove, 24' through the trusses to the center of the lower level. It has an inline fan that moves the heat to the base of the stairs..
