I remember Mr Green Jeans but not the other one.
The town clown used to scare the crap out of me. Don't know what it is about clowns, but I still don't like them, and my mom was a clown named Jingles for thirty years.

When that show came on it was my clue to take my Springfield Model 15 and ‘two’ LR cartridges and head to the woods. ‘Two’ was my ration anytime I went hunting ,,,,,, I learned to use them wisely, after all they cost a penny each !! 😉

If the clown y'all are discussing was on the Howdy-Doody show, that was Clarabelle- best known for another role he played. That was Bob Keshan- better known as Captain Kangaroo.

Being in Okla. City.....I also recall Foreman Scotty. A neighbor kid/friend, on his show, once won "The Golden Horseshoe".

I also remember Capt. Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans. They were on TV when I was just in my early years of grade school and were also still going when my oldest sons were around to watch. Also remember a few of Capt.'s guests over the years like;
Mr. Bainter the Painter
The Banana Man (a kind of scary clown guy)
The Dancing Bear (on quite often)
Grandfather Clock (waking him up by counting numbers)
Mr. Moose & Bunny Rabbit (both regulars on the show)
