The Ausy's Are Bringing Back the Albatross
IMO, one of the coolest flying machines is being reserected. Grumman’s famous Albatross seaplane back to life for modern-day fliers.
Our local Coast Guard base used this bird for many years around the bays and big waters of the Great Lakes. While out fishing I've watched them land and take off many times around here.

Good to see some old designs being brought back

That one and the Goose were as good as it gets. The difficulty is the avgas, if they stick with the original engines. Those radials were designed to run on 130 (which is long gone) and have to be de-tuned to run on 110 - and they're phasing out 110.
Posted before I read the piece. They're replacing the radials with turboprops. Fuel issue solved. For that plane. We may very soon never hear a radial engine again, simply because the fuel they need is no longer produced.
