Refund purchase price and shipping?
When a seller accepts a refund based on the inspection period, is it customary to refund only the high bid or the high bid plus the shipping charged? I’d expect the buyer to pay return shipping, but wasn’t sure about the shipping they were charged by the seller..

IMO, it would depend on the reason for return. If it was misrepresented or damaged, I'd think that the seller should refund everything you sent them, plus return shipping. If the return was for something questionable, say the buyer didn't like the way the undamaged factory grips felt, that might be a different story. I'd call the seller and see what you can work out.

Unless I screwed up the buyer pays shipping both ways and this is stated in my auctions.

This is why it's so important that you carefully read every line of the seller's listing before you bid. If photos are dark, out of focus, or don't show all parts of the gun, ask for better photos. Never engage in wishful bidding; if you aren't confident of everything, walk away.
Above all, read the seller's feedback.

SOP by almost every company is you pay the return shipping for an item you return. Very few pay return shipping except when the Seller shipped the wrong item.
You should be happy that Seller is not charging a restocking fee on the return.

I never said I was the buyer and I wasn’t talking about return shipping. I’m assuming you misread the original post. I was curious how most sellers were handling similar situations.

If the seller sent the right item and did not misrepresent it in the auction, I would not expect a refund of the original shipping cost. As a buyer, I would consider it the cost of being able to inspect the item. Having an inspection period is a courtesy to the buyer. It is not for returns when someone's spouse finds out and objects to the purchase or a buyer just changes his or her mind. Having a nonrefundable shipping charge prevents a seller from having a loss in those situations. Bob

I have recently purchased an accessory (not from GB) but it was only about $32 including the "free shipping" it arrived quickly and I found it was not gonna fit my revolver, my fault, I ordered the wrong thing, I was sent a printable shipping label and got a refund of my purchase by returning it in the original packaging minus a $6 and change shipping charge... I'm good with that as it was my mistake and no reason the seller should have to eat that costs since they shipped exactly what I ordered...
