I might be wrong, but I kinda suspect there is a second camera there and a photographer. Which came first, the photographer or the squirrel?

Ya He Dog, you're right! These shots were taken by a cat that was stalking the bird and then the darn squirrel showed up! He figured that a couple quick pics from his phone camera would save face with his buddies for not bringing that bird over for lunch. π

Question He Dog, what would be the major differences that you would see between the squirrel in the photo and the Kaibab squirrels?
Mule

The Abert's (tassle earred squirrels) are dark, usually black and brown or black and gray. The live primarily in evergreen forest, pine, pinyon, juniper. The squirrel in the photos is red, so Eurasian. I don't know the life history of the Eurasian species, so I can't tell you how they differ ecologically or behaviorally. There are also squirrels found in Africa, Central and South America. Being placental they are absent in Australia, where they are ecologically replaced by some of the smaller possums.
