Marlin 1894PG 44 magnum
I have a 1894PG magnum, that has a 16 1/2 inch barrel and is ported. Does anybody have any idea what it is worth????? I have never seen one for sale on GB or any other auction. PG stands for pistol Grip lever action. Just curious as rarity and value. Oakie

Ones I'm finding on the net have sold for $880-$1200 but are all 20" barrel
The ones I find with 16" barrel sold for $1300 but, do not have the PG

They made the "Trapper" for about two weeks it seemed. I saw an ad waited a little and then tried in vain to find one. No distributor in the U.S. that I could find had one. They sold as soon as they were made. Skip ahead to around 2003 or so and I am working at U MASS in Worchester and went into the Gun Room. I was talking to the owner, and he asked if I had been in the "Western, Cowboy" section in the other room. Among a rack of lever guns were two 16" model 94's in .45 Colt, brand new. I purchased both and had them shipped back to N.C. One went to my buddy, and I sold mine a few years back. Both were straight gripped rifles. If I had one to sell now, I would not take less than two grand.

Damn. I was thinking of selling a Remington 700 BDL in 25-06 to buy a Marlin 256. Right now, I just put out 50,000 on a house I am flipping, so money is tight for a new gun purchase. If I had some extra, I would definitely buy it from you. Lets see how it goes. Now I will be thinking about this all night😣🤔😃

I was just wondering the value. Probably one of my top three rifles that I cherish. This one will go to either my son, or one of his children, if he ever has one. I'm ready to put a second man on the job, to get grandchildren before I die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That gun, and the .357 Magnum version, have a bad reputation for "The Dreaded Marlin Jam" caused by a second round feeding from the magazine while the first is being levered up. I have had several repaired by gunsmiths recommended by Marlin (before they quit) but not seem to totally fix the problem.

truthful I have heard that also, though I have one of the 357's. and it feeds 357 and 38 flawlessly, you can even mix them in the tube. not sure what percentage of these are part of the dreaded marling jam but I would suspect way less than 10%.....

Agree, I had a 44, but sold it and it ran great. Currently have a 38/357, 41 magnum and a 45 Colt that all run great.

This is my 38-40 Winchester. My great grandfather bought it new, from a hardware store. I had it appraised by Bert H and Winchester. Value was somewhere north of 20,000. I also have an original box of ammo for it in the safe. This one will be passed down to my son, Chris. If he never has any children, I asked him to pass it down to my nieces son, to keep it in the family, as my father asked me.

there's no way I would sell mine for 1200 ,, 1800 to 2000+ maybe but 1200 not going to happen

Very nice! I have my Grandfathers Colt Army Special that he bought the year my Dad was born. 1912. My '73 is a 32-20.

I have the straight stock version in .44 mag, super little rifle. I've never had an issue with any of my Marlin lever guns. I have them in .22 .35 .44 .357 30-30 and 45-70.
