Looks like s/he has some Coyote or Fox characteristics. Wonder if mom was a domestic dog and dad was a travelin' man.

Check for distemper if animal is easy to catch. Could be ill.

Coyote for sure. Meet Cody, a “pet coyote” I had for over 7 years. Got him as a pup when he was about the size of the one in the picture.

He was ok. Couldn’t disclipine him or try to train him like you would a dog. Used to take him for rides in my 34 Ford pickup. Would get lots of looks and questions from people. He was not viscous and was reasonably friendly with strangers. We had chickens that would hang around his pen and torment him. One day when I came home from work, there was Cody, lying down in the grass with his front legs crossed and all the dead chickens laid all around him! He had gotten out of his pen and got even with all those friggin chickens!

We had a pet racoon almost 40 years ago
And it had a sad ending .

No, D/R. Cody lived a long life. I had him for 7 years and left him with a neighbor when I moved to an Airpark where I could not keep him.

glad to hear he had a good life , I am sure he got a lot of attention
if it had went the other way I would have understood
for a short time about 25 yrs ago for just about two weeks or so , we had a I would say mostly wolf mix dog ( I know they have a name for the breed just can not recall it ) that showed up at our place he was super friendly no aggression at all I knew he was some ones pet and we had no luck finding the owner he was handsome and large fellow but could see he was restless .
I came home one day from work and he decided he wanted to go home or just to be free again he pulled the latch ( ripped it off the door of the shed ) we never seen him again , I always hoped he found his way home and no farmer or local shot him .
I have done my share of SSS and even hunting but I have a huge soft spot for most animals

I was talking about dogs with a Lady (Customer) at work the other day. We were showing photo's. She showed me photo's of her pet Possum, interacting, playing, and she said hunting with her two Beagles. I had to laugh.
She said her two Beagles treated it like another dog and the Possum acted like a dog. Guess they were all raised together.

I was amazed at the stories on youtube of people keeping them as pets also learned a lot more about them in the process they only live two or three years just a little longer as pets but not much
Even the internet prased them and said give them a pass and they are cleaner than cats about grooming them self
Silly I know but spend a few minutes reading bout them

Hunters in this area,especially deer hunters hate coyotes with a passion.I am a deer hunter but I could never bring myself to hate,and I sort of admire their survival wit of old mr coyote. Coyotes kill deer for survival and most of us humans kill deer for entertainment.

Possum, it's the other white meat. Yes their lifespan is two years. That seems harsh for such a magnificent creature but I love possums and their traits.

Bunches of them.here . Small game has been almost completely wiped out . Time to learn how to hunt them .

My cousin's husband had an albino one..it was a big baby..he wouldn't have took 10 thousand dollars for that critter...
