M-1 Garand Experts, Please Weigh In. Tell Me About This One.

Mark is here no more, but I am hoping there is another M-1 expert or two out there.

I'd like to know as much as I can about this one, especially its real value. I set the bidding very high to discourage bidding until I find out more about it.

It's a Springfield Armory in nice shape.

Bolt is Springfield, and marked marked "SA."  

Stock cartouches are also Springfield and in nice condition.

Barrel is marked "1-S-A-9-44."

Trigger guard assembly is from Winchester, marked "C 46025 W.R.A." and is not as nice as the rest of the rifle.

Bore appears very good. Action is smooth. 

Serial number is 284XXX.

    what are the barrel markings when you pull charging handle back it should date close to serial number if untouched

    Barrel looks like a 44 date? and receiver if it's six digits like June 41 , can't tell for sure, No help but and I wish the Markster was here to set the record straight.

    You might want to field strip the rifle, & photograph the small parts & markings. I think Grasshopper nailed the age: it was made around July 1941. The original SA/GHS stock likely was replaced with the one you now have, but I can't see it well enough to tell if it is legitimate. The type 2 or 3 lockbar rear sights might draw some interest from potential buyers.

    It could just be the camera, but the bore looks rusty to me.

    Unable to guess the "value", there are too many new bidders out there today.
