Lot of great people gave all or most to keep this country and others free

I have nothing but respect to all of them

    No way to prove it

one of my oldest sons buddies grandfather told his family he was there and even ask if he wanted in the photo

But declined and stayed with his MG and had to use it to fight off another attack in short order

I can't imagine anyone lying about it

After looking at this photograph secretary of the navy James Forrest said: “The raising of the flag on Suribachi means a marine corp. for the next 500 years”.

My Dad was in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. (One of the Very, very few headstones at the VA Cemetery that say that.) He wanted to be buried at Arlington, and certainly Earned it. Would have taken 8 mo. storage of his body, @$2K/mo. We could not make that happen. (Still makes me mad.)

Yes Sir. God Bless those who have fought for our Freedom.

We had a guy from Iowa who was one of the original flag-raisers and whenever he would mention it he was told to shut up. He didn't really care and just let it go. It stayed that way until 2019, when for some reason the Marines decided that he HAD been one of the flag raisers. Odd how that worked out. Now his town has a memorial for him.
