Dang. Local restaurant burned down last night
We ate there just about every Sunday. Good home style food and good service.
Pearisburg restaurant severely damaged in early morning fire
When crews tried to enter the front of the restaurant, the roof collapsed.

Doggone, sad to see that. Not that any unplanned structure fire is good, but I sure hate to see a ma & pa business burn as it's some local folks losing their livelihood.

I agree HPD, folks have their whole lives invested in those mom & pop stores. How long before joe blames in on those evil gas stoves?

Yeah most mom and pops are struggling to find help, let alone be able to afford to rebuild. Hope they can find another location reasonable......

Too bad, hate to see a small local business get hit . I never got the appeal of home style restaurants. For home cooking I stay home. In a restaurant I want food I don't get at home, Oriental, Greek, more Italian, Indian, mostly ethnic.

Well, I can't always be home and when I can't, it is occasionally nice to have home comforts. Plus, it's a good business model for drawing in fur-in-ers.

Not exactly a ton of options in Pearisburg. I reckon come Sunday around noon, the great migration to the Princeton Cracker Barrel will begin!
My choice would be Anna’s in Narrows. Not sure if it’s still open, but sure was good!

The appeal of homestyle diners is that you not only get food like Grandma used to make, but you can get the foods that you'd like to get at home but are a lot of trouble to make. No, they aren't always great, but neither are the chain places. (Grandma wasn't always great either, truth be told.)
Little indie places like that are sadly prone to fires. Long after they close up at night, they're still there cleaning but dead tired and may forget to do something or turn something off.

We were happy with were we shared a meal with you in Pembroke. But we might have moved-on up to Pearisburg next time. Hope they rebuild soon.

isn't there a little diner right across the road from cracker barrell? not sure of the name but have met my sister there time or two, it is done up 50's-60's style, great food.......
