Inconsiderate Neighbors Dogs On Your Property -
I have a Pit Bull. I work VERY hard to keep him contained on my Property. He has NEVER been off my Property roaming. He is either with me, (on leash) in my Vehicle, in the House, or on his very beefy overhead Trolley line.
Yesterday, for about the 5th-6th time that I know of, my inconsiderate (from Out of State) neighbors two large breed (Wolfhounds or some such) have been on my Property. She was walking them Off Leash on our road, (not the road she lives on.) and they came running up to my back deck while there with Buddy. If he had been out front on his Trolley, somebody's dog woulda got torn up. I have about 3 acres around my house. You have to be WAY on my Property to have your dogs around my back deck or around my front door.
This is not the 1st time I have confronted her about her dogs on my Property. I've had it. I layed in to her verbally yesterday, and again via text later yesterday evening. Told Her either keep your dogs on your Property or walk them On Leash. I'm done with it.
I blasted Her. Told her how much I Did Not Appreciate it. (5-6 times now, that I know of.) Flat out told her, "If your dogs attack my dog while he is hooked up on my property, on his overhead Trolley line, I will shoot them." I made that VERY clear to her. (Around here, in the Country, Dogs attacking or threatening you on your Property, get Shot.) I told Her "You Have Been Warned."

We have had trouble with our neighbors stock dogs in with our cows, and one day they were in with there uncle's pregnant mares one ready to deliver. I called the uncle and told him I would shoot his nephews dogs if I caught them in my stock or his.... Never had another problem. 🤞

dogs will be dogs and follow natural instinct. its all on the owner's as you have stated
they should be the ones punished for allowing it . 😏 call the local sheriff or dog warden have them give a one on one talk
I do not like pulling the call the cop card . and never have but always a option being fined for not controlling their pets or having them taken might be enough to scare them

My thoughts would be to document each occurrence. Time, date, weather, etc. If it comes to the law being involved or court, documentation will help.
Don't shoot her dogs if there's any way to avoid it.

Oh, Believe me, I gave her a "Come To Jesus" talk/text. She never responded, because She knew She was Wrong.
I really do not want to have to shoot her dogs, (however) I made it abundantly clear, that that was what would happen if she continued to let her large breed, aggressive dogs roam on my Property, Off Leash. (Especially) If they attacked my dog while hooked up on his Trolley line, on my Property.
Last time that happened, with a different neighbors two large breed dogs, (I had previously warned him about, letting them roam.) Buddy kicked Butt and took names. The neighbor came over to see if my dog was Okay. (Read him the Riot Act as well.) They have since moved.
I asked her, "How would you feel if my Pit, was on your Property 5-6 times?" (That I know of.) "You would not be very happy. My dog has NEVER, been on your Property. Maybe you can return the favor/courtesy."
If not, be prepared for your dogs not coming home. 🤔

I forwarded the texts I sent her, to the Sheriff's dept., after letting them know what had been happening, (in order for there to be a record,) as to what (Exactly) I said, and to what was going on.
I was told, "Your Good. Do what you have to do. We appreciate you contacting us."

Neighbor's mastiff came on our property and killed one of our dogs. I called him to tell him if I saw his dog on my place, I would shoot it. He threatened me and our other dog. Two days later, his dog disappeared. Funny how that happened. He called to ask me if I had seen his dog, I told him I hadn't seen it for a couple of days, which was the truth!

Yep. If I have to shoot one of her dogs, (the Alpha Male) I will not call her. It will just go missing.
It's a shame, (but) that happens out here in the Country. 🤔

Look, she needs a place to take her dogs. You got that place. You could use a woman around the camp. Invite her in for some your tacos.
Seriously, you are doing what I would also. Hopefully she become more considerate/ responsible.
I love dogs, but don't like irresponsible pet owners.

Never had a lot of trouble with dogs running around the neighborhood here, with one exception around ten years ago. Neighbor had an aggressive pit bull that was an escape artist, and when it got out, pray you weren't out in your garage, or anywhere in the front yard, because snarling fur missile.
One day, I had just come home from fishing up in the woods, so naturally I had my .357 on me. As I get to the front door, I hear this nightmare heading for me, and fast. I turn to see the dog about eight feet away, snarling and lunging at me. I flip the snap on the holster, get the .357 about half way out, and the owner comes running, screaming at the dog to get back over there, and screaming at me "DON'T HURT HIM!", along with the standard "he's not a bad dog!" Uh huh.
I'll just say this. I don't tolerate aggressive dogs, of any breed. I told the man that if the dog ever did that again, not only would he have a mess in my yard to clean up when I got done with the dog, but I'd follow that up with kicking the everloving hell out of him for letting the dog get out and do what it was doing. That was the only one in the neighborhood anyone had a problem with.
Within a month or so, he and his demonic land shark had moved out of city limits, pretty much under threat from the town marshal to either move and keep it, or get rid of the dog and stay where he was. Of course the man blamed everyone but himself for having to move.

when i was growing up (50 years ago) dogs were a tool on the farm, however if your dog took to running the country it was widely understood that he may not come home. no warnings given or needed

My dad bought a truck-load of calves to pasture on some wheat one winter. They were unloaded into a feedlot fenced with 5-strand barbwire and stout cedar posts. Some dogs got into the feedlot that night and the calves panicked and went through the fence.
I was away at college so I missed the all-night round-up.
The calves were "baldy blacks" -- Hereford cows and Angus bulls-- so they were solid black with white faces. One got on a freshly repaved 4-lane highway that moonless night and a highway patrol car looking for the calves found one at 60 mph. He'd slowed down thinking he saw something ahead when the calf turned around and charged him. Calf and cruiser were both totaled.
Several got up on the Santa Fe rail tracks and got hit by a train. SF will pay for any stock they hit IF they were secured in a good fence. Dad went to court and lawyers kept delaying things until the middle of summer when the judge had had enough and told them to pay up. They agreed but wanted to have the calves dug up so they could count them. Judge told them they were counted that night so settle.
What they didn't do was weigh them that night. After putting up with the lawyer's shenanigans dad decided that those calves had kept on gaining weight just like the rest of them so he got paid for all the lawyer delays.😎
The sheriff said they knew it was dogs, not coyotes, because dogs go for the nose of cattle; coyotes go for the hamstring.

In Missouri, 'HUNTING' dogs have trespass rights since dogs can't read. 'PET' dogs don't have these rights but you'd better be very careful if/when shooting someone else's dog. Catch the dog and hold it for evidence and document any damage that occurred. Call the Sheriff/game warden/or whoever and report the damages.
I doubt that entering an unfenced area and/or pooping in an unacceptable place is going to gain much traction unless it's a more densely populated area.
The owner is responsible for the actions of pets/livestock/whatever but some folks just don't understand responsibility.

All my neighbors have dogs and always walk them. Never remember having a problem or a fight. If they meet walking they are generally glad to see each other. Nine out 0f ten times when you hear about a problem it involves pit bulls. I once trained an Irish setter that became aggressive, but he went to dog heaven. There are too many good dogs to have to put up with an aggressive one.

I love dogs.....I just love them.....and I can't stress how much is despise a bad dog owner. Its not their fault they have the bad luck of having horrible owners. I have wanted to do something about a bad dog a couple times, but couldn't bring myself to do it. The closest I've come was a dog that would charge and bark, growling....it belonged to a house up the road and would come down to our area because there was another dog it liked to run around with near our house. If you got out of the car at the end of the drive while it was there to get your mail it looked like it wanted to attack you. It just went away one day. I've found people with aggressive dogs tend to be from unstable homes and I guessed they moved away.
We've got a pair running the roads right now that are the stars of the local facebook page. They tore into my garbage can last week and I spent the morning picking up wet garbage by the road. They got under someone's house and tore up their A/C ductwork. It kills me because they are cute as can be and super sweet. They are going to be killed by someone eventually with al the nonsense they are doing.
Our area is not a typical residential area....we are spread out with pastures and such mixed in with little spots with houses here and there. These dogs are running an area that is at least 10 square miles from what I can tell by the complaints I'm seeing.

Putting it in writing documents there is an ongoing issue that has been brought to her attention, more than once. (Several times.) She also can not fabricate what was said. She has been put on notice that there is a problem that needs to be corrected.
I never said "I would shoot her dogs." I said "An aggressive dog on my Property attacking my dog (who is on his Property) and is hooked up to a very beefy Overhead Trolley line, will get shot." Big difference there.
I have never brandished a gun and really Do Not want to have to shoot one of her dogs. Enough is enough though. We have been lucky that my dog has been on his Trolley on the back deck the several times he has been outside when they came over. If he had been out front it would have been bad. They run right up to the back deck with us on it, growling and having hair raised. She has been present 3 times now that this has happened.
I told her "This is a Problem. I Do Not Appreciate it. You Need to Keep Your Dogs On Your Property. If My Dog Was On His Front Trolley Line, They Would Be Fighting Right Now and Getting Torn Up. I Do Not Appreciate It. Be A Responsible Dog Owner."

I have had issues with loose dogs chasing my chickens and attacking my barn cats for years. I warn the owners at least twice to keep their animals under control. If the owner ignores my direct polite requests then the dog seems to disappear without a trace.

You can only warn the owners so many times. My dad had his cows in a field across the creek behind my house in Knoxville back in the 80s and three of the neighbors dogs kept attacking them. Several times I had to shoot my shotgun up in the air to scare them off. I heard them after one of the cows early one morning and they were biting her on the legs and she was having a fit so I took my shotgun with 00 buck and killed all three of the dogs. End of problem.
We never had anymore dog or neighbor problems after that. If someone loves their dogs then kept them home. Our cows don't come to your house to attack your dogs so you damn well better not let your dogs come to our property and attack our cows is how I warned the neighbor the last time. I never had to 'splain it to him again.

Ken, You have not met ignorant people, until you go to the Jersey shore. City folk can make you want to kill someone. NYC and Philly people are the worst. Park their cars in a lane or sidewalk, and go shopping. Toss their trash on the beach and expect someone to pick it up for them. They treat the people that live there, like they are second class citizens and demand everything. Then there is the crime. They bring murder, rape and drugs from the city. Thank god they are only here for three months.

I don't think it's wise to issue threats. Just make some simple requests and if they aren't adhered to, shoot the dog, shovel the dog, and shut up about the dog.
