BIL and his wife in a head-on collision last night
Unbelievable how well the safety systems work in modern vehicles. He sustained some bumps and bruises and she has 4 broken ribs, and a laceration one side of the face. Could have been much worse, so we are thankful for that.
A young man aged 15 with no drivers license, but "permission" from his dad, pulled out in front of my BIL, and initial impact forced his Ram into an oncoming pickup.
I don't know the legal ramifications going forward, but my gut says the youngster should never be eligible to gain access to a legally obtained license, and dadio should pay the piper on the whole mess.

I'm thinking the dad will deny giving permission & go with, "taking without owners consent." Your BIL can still go against the insurance but get nothing out of a 15 year old.

glad ther OK just banged up a bit . the cars are made to be disposable and take all the impact
live over a car is good but I agree its going to be a huge battle and taxing experience getting paid for all the injury and damage and sad but lawyering up is the only way to go any more and even then getting money form some one with out any insurance is like peeing in the wind

Good gosh. Sorry this happened but glad it was not worse. Prayers they heal quickly and fully. Good luck recovering loss.

The father (using that term tongue in cheek), was on scene as they live just down the road from the intersection, made that statement to the trooper that he gave the kid permission, so it's in the police report.
The insurance on the car the kid was driving will be null due to an uninsured driver, which doesn't really matter since Michigan is a no fault state, other than dadio lost a vehicle out of pocket.
All in, there were 5 involved, with no life threatening injuries, and two went on ambulance rides.
John's truck was a 2016 Ram 4x4 super cab. He is going to have a tough time replacing it without out of pocket cost. Sucky deal.

Thank God the two weren't hurt worse! Could have been much worse, and quite the life lesson for the young lad. (And "dad").
