Grandkids. You guys and girls are lucky
I wish I had grandchildren to spoil. We had our Son when I was 29. I thought by now that I would have grandkids. He has no intentions of having kids right now. He is 30, and I am 60. I'm starting to get up there and losing energy. I told him last night, if you don't give me any grandkids soon, I'm going to put a second man on the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. To each their own, but I feel I'm missing out. I saw the pictures of austin20 grandkids, and it made me jealous. At least I have many nieces and nephews, to pass my stuff down to, as well as my son. Praying for a little one soon!!!

We've been keeping two great granddaughters four days a week while our grandson and hiw wife work. Eight month old and 2 year old. Love 'em to death, but when they go home- Whew!

I have two. 8 and 6 year old boys. They live about 15 miles from us, and are the 2nd and 3rd best things to ever happen to us.

Hang in there Oakie, We had our sons at 29 & 32. Our first grandchild arrived when I was just shy of 63 and the 2nd one will arrive just shy of my 65th.. Worth waiting for no matter how long it takes....😁

We were blessed with five grand children and two great grands, ages 4 and 6. Last summer they caught their first fish and batch of crawdads with "pop". Been camping several times. So far it is only rubber band guns and my Model 25 Daisy but i see my Dad's Stevens 14 1/2 shooting C.B. caps in the near future. We have nannied five children from birth to school age. Right now we have Dennis, 15 months old, and he is a menace!, gets into everything but when he climbs up on the sofa and falls asleep in my lap, all is forgiven. His parents are separated and his mother works full time. We nannied her 26 years ago, Her Dad was our nephew and he spent many a sleepover at our place. He didn't have a very good child hood either. I can proudly say my Mrs. and I are the grandparents of 8! Our 2nd son and his wife got it all started with the birth of identical twin boys! A couple years later gave us a set of identical twin girls!! 😲 Genetically, there are no recorded twin births in either family sides, so I consider our fortunate blessings to be TRUE BLESSINGS! ☺️
Our 3rd son and his wife have given us 2 granddaughters and a grandson and our 4th son has given us a granddaughter! My wife and I tried for a daughter until our 4th son was born and gave up after that. Having granddaughters has made up for those early wishes x a million!!

I have 2 awesome granddaughters, 18 and 15, but I rarely get to see them. It's an 8-hour round trip to see them, and my old butt just can't stand to sit still that long anymore.

One of my daughters recently had my first grandchild - a little boy. They live 700 miles away, but we've seen him twice in the six weeks since he was born.

Don't know how old yer butt is, "but" the trip is only fours one way. Take a break or two, spend a night or two and go see them. Make arrangements for them to visit you. We ain't gittin' enny younger so the longer you wait the less time you have. We drive to Co. Springs twice a year and when we get too old to drive we will fly. BTW, we are both 79.

I've broken my tailbone on 3 separate occasions. The pain is fairly unbearable after about 30 minutes.

jimdeere-Very interesting. I had that conversation with my wife a few days ago. I really never spent much time with mine either. Were ours come up there to the lake to have fun as often as they can. God Bless I guess🤔

I was fortunate to be able to drive from here to Kingsport, TN a couple of years ago to visit my grand daughter and her kids. I won't be able to do that any more----have lost hearing in one ear suddenly, along with total balance, and it seems it won't be coming back. I've especially bonded with one little boy, who is somewhat troubled and angry. Whenever he is feeling bad, he wants to make a video call to his "Papa", and tell him about it. I may never see him again, but there is no better feeling than seeing him and hearing his voice.

The best we can do is leave them with happy memories. Our two greats will always remember their first camping/fishing trip with us when they caught their first of many fish. And our grands will forever remember getting up early to ride all day in a logging truck. And the first time they drove it at age 12. Hey, I still get a tear in my eye when I remember sitting on my Dad's lap steering his 1948 K-8 International. Cheer up, yer still makin' memories with that little boy, "Papa". Semper Fi.

Have a bunch of grands, 3 great grands- but-
Some of them live far away- and my grands are grown. So do what I did- find a kid that needs an old man.
Neighbor is nice lady- has a 7 year old son, who lost his dad. So if I am taking the Jon boat up to the lake, I'll ask Mom if kid wants to go fishing. Got him a life jacket in his size. Stop at store on way to lake, let him pick out drinks and snacks. Got him a Snoopy fishing rod. You'd think he was going on the Queen Mary.

Have one grandson. He is 18 now. He is in college upstate NY, has two part time jobs and a steady girlfriend. Daughter is a horse person and has small farm two+ hours away from me. She would like to follow me out of this Socialist State of NY to my place in Virginia. At 80 I am a little reluctant to bail out right now by myself. When a guy finds a girl, we all know how that goes. Grandson is a great kid and I don't want to mess up his life. I am so fortunate to have him. -----------------------------------Ray

I'm right there with you Oakie.
My son is getting married at the end of April.
Future DIL will start her residency shortly after.
I'm guessing that I have a few more years to go.
