Boyds gunstock
Decided to try one. Ordered one for the Thompson Venture 30-06 I think it looks a lot better then the cheap plastic one it came with

I put a Boyds on that 10/22 build I did a couple of years ago. Been pretty happy with it and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of their products. Bob

The only downside I see to laminate stocks is they are heavy. I am old, but that has nothing to do with it.

My Winchester 1897 has Boyd's replacement furniture on it. (I bought it that way.)
Fit and finish is very nice.

I don't own any (might have to change that) but boyds has some beautiful stocks.

Require a heads up firm grip due to no checkering.

Mine were Fajen, and checkered, but Fajen is long gone unfortunately. Rock solid for glass bedding.

Top one is Boyd's, and bottom is Hogue. Both fit and function very well, although I'm torn between the comfort of the Hogue rubber overmold for gripping the gun, versus the comfort of the thumbhole on the Boyd's.
At the end of the day, I usually end up with the thumbhole in hand, so I guess that's the favorite.

Donnie Gemes was Fajen's custom shop foreman at the time they closed the doors. Donnie bought a fairly large portion of the machines, equipment and stock blanks at the auction and then opened his own shop as Show-Me Gunstocks.

I thought about adding one to my 270 Win Savage Axis. The problem is the that rifle is nice and light as is with the cheap plastic stock.

I have some really nice OLD Bishop and Fajen's walnut gunstocks on custom hunting rifles with the original butt plates.
Some of my OLD walnut rifle stocks actually look better with no checkering due to the nice grain of the wood.
I found out several years ago that when they say a gunstock is SEMI anything, especially
semi- inletted keeps a heads up. You will need to practice patience when properly inletting.

My favorite gun stock is the Grey, two tone Green, Brown laminate stock on my NEF Ultra Rifle. (.30.06)

The stock on my '03 is a Boyd's '03A1 C stock repop. Oversized by a fair amount (1/8" mostly, but 1/4" in a few spots) when I first got it. Had to inlet the lower sling swivel, buttplate, cut the notch under the cutoff from scratch, as well as drill the holes for the two crossbolts, but overall it was a fun project. No complaints here on Boyd's.

It has sure been handy, and I can't recommend them highly enough. Picked it up at a gun show in Wisdom, MT, back in 2006, and if memory serves me, they were $95 then, but I'd gladly pay what they're going for now.
