1911 Guy's -
My next door neighbor/buddy - just came back from N PA, (where he is from.) This guy falls in to deals, like you would not believe.
Here is his latest. - His buddy, who owns large scale mushroom farms up there, gave him (as in Free) a Firearm one of his Mexican laborers, ("who was not allowed to own it.") Left behind, when he got in trouble. A late 1926 (according to my Bro's Serial # search) Nickle plated 1911, with Mother of Pear grips, a butter smooth slide rack, and (I would estimate) a 2.5 - 3.5 lb trigger pull. (Breaks like glass.) Beautiful condition 1911.
Serial # C1469**. Absolutely beautiful condition. Did I mention, he was given it FREE?
He is having a LEO friend run it as far as being stolen. If so, it will be turned in.
Will be sending photo's to me, to post on this thread, if/when I can.
Any info appreciated. (He asked me to post here, for him.)

That sounds very pretty. I have never owned a nickle plated 1911.

You didn't tell us what markings it has, but let's assume that it was made by Colt. The "C" prefix indicates that it is a Government Model, usually sold to civilians; M1911's were made for the US War Dept.
If it can be proven (by a Colt factory letter & expert examination) that the finish is original, it might worth be worth a fair amount. But, given the love of Mexicans for plated guns, odds are that it was done by Tio Bubba.

One of his former employee's (a gentleman from South of the Border,) "got in trouble and split, leaving this firearm that he was not allowed to own, behind."
Having seen/handled it, it is one of the nicest early ones I have seen. I will try and get more info off it and some good photo's of it to post here. Butter smooth slide, I estimate the trigger at 2.5-3.5 lbs. VERY Nice.
*As I stated earlier, it is being run by a LEO Friend to make sure it is not stolen. If it is, it will be turned over.
