Never had kids, but thinking that the U.S.A.F. might give her some direction.

Free career training if played correctly.

I know a couple folks that this worked out for them.

I remember those days of doing things on a whim then life got in the way. Now I am at a point in life that I can return to that lifestyle but haven't had the urge to do so. Tell her this sedate old poop is envious and hopes she has fun! Someday she will look back and treasure the memories she is creating now. Bob

Well good for her! We only get to be young once, might just as well take the bull by the horns and enjoy it while she can.

He has a security job at a corporate office building....its something he happened on by a friend. He just has to check badges and "boop" people in the building. He's making really good money with good benefits and he likes the people he is working with. He's been all over the place for the past year. Its been a rough go for sure with him....but hopefully he has found something that works.

I'm pretty happy with how things are going with both of them right now.

The last line of your comment reminds me of something a friend told me. She is a licensed therapist that does work in counseling people with terminal illnesses.

One thing she said a dying person never said to her was “I wish I had sent more time at the office or at work”.

Instead they all talked about things they wished that they had not done and can’t do now.

We have a photographer....he does a great job on our items each week. He is heading to Arizona tonight. He has a generator, blow up mattress, all the supplies to "camp" in his jeep while he is on his trip. He is going to be gone for a full week....just taking pictures. He calls it his "recharging" adventures. He loves the desert.

I love the idea of getting away, but I cannot imagine sleeping in my car for a week.

She's a good egg, really. Is this the same kiddo of yours that was looking to maybe move out west?

Yes.....she hasn't given up on the idea, but she is making things work in Mentone for now. They have a big art related community out there and its hippy-dippy enough for her to feel like she isn't stuck living in dreary old Alabama. She has friends that have beehives she has been helping maintain....an antiqe store she helps manage...and several groups of friends that are nothing at all alike. She wants to travel and see the world a bit before she settles down, but she doesn't really have a good path that will let her do this. I'm fine with her just planning some trips. WHY does being a sharecropper tempt this child??? I hope she learns better before trying some of the silly stuff she threatens to do.

Experience is the best teacher there is!

I'm so glad to hear of a young person out "doing things" instead of sitting in their mother's basement, worrying about their "anxiety".

You are a good parent to not get in her way. 😀
