Seems some russian cruise missiles have "soft" landed in Ukraine......and are revealing their innards.
The circuit boards contain IC's circa mid-1960's.......with some of the IC's sporting Texas Instruments logos. Heck.......I think I may even have some of those old Op Amps.

What do recovered parts tell us about the Russian army, what TT Electronics parts were found, and how do end-user agreements make it hard to track where parts go?
Although the solid state components would stand the test of time.......the "passive" parts are subject to aging...........therein, the problem.
I wonder if board member Warbird would have thoughts on the subject.
If the upkeep on their fission warhead equipment is on par...........????? 😬

During WWII all they had was lots of bodies, and very little equipment. Most of their equipment was junk. Looks like not much has changed.

Circuit boards definitely have a shelf life and those seem to have been way past theirs. It's getting pretty embarrassing for Russia.

As far as MAINTAINING nuclear weapons, at the breakup of the Soviet Union, their problem was FINDING the things. Soviet inventory system was about equal to a chalkboard. They were not all in Russia- they were scattered across several of the Republics that had just become independent. The US Enrichment Corp BOUGHT a bunch of the Russian nuclear material, flew teams into Russia to repack the material (not in condition to be safely moved) flew it back to the US where it was cut down from weapons grade to reactor grade, and used it to run US powerplants.
Nuclear weapons are (for the most part) boosted with tritium. That needs to be renewed at least every 10 years. I would not have a real high confidence that ALL of their nukes are even operational.
There was one documented case of an ICBM on its transporter/ launcher WITH a warhead in place that was found abandoned in the forest. Seems the launch crew had not been paid in 9 months, said the hell with it, parked their rig, took their rifles and WENT HUNTING.

Getting back on target. Took my wife car into our local garage to look at many items and they said the tread was good but were starting to dry rot. WTH😝

Tires, like batteries have a built-in expiration date. If they lasted forever, you'd only buy one set. It is technically possible to make tires that won't dry rot and last 100K+ miles, but don't get your hopes up.

"Dry Rot"/Sun rot is a fact of life for tires. We have somewhere around 200 tires 'on the ground' year round. Some/most are only rolling during harvest and the incidence of environmental failure is discouraging.
