Peepers
We've had a few warm days in a row, 50's, during the day. I'm outside doing some clean up and the spring peepers are out singing. I expect to see frog eggs soon in my little pond.

WOW! February here in northern lower Michigan is always a very cold winter month. Peepers don't wake up till at least late April or early May here. I do love the sounds they make along with all the crickets we have around our place in the Summer time!

That's one of the things I love about the Spring fed Mountain pond behind my house. The "Peepers" and the Bullfrogs go nuts, once it's warm enough. Most people, (even Locals) do not have a clue we have a big pond hidden in the tree's out here. It's also Stocked with about 350 ea. Rainbow/Brown Trout and Tons of Bluegill. (Spring fed) Creek runs out of it. Not a stagnant farm pond.
When the evening light is just right, you can look down into the water from my elevated (by about 5 levels) deck and see just how many fish are in there. Neighbbor (Mike) throws stale bread in on the summer evenings. Fish go nuts. We also have a couple fairly large Snapping Turtles and a Great Blue Heron that hang out here. The rule with all the people that come/visit to shoot on our backyard range, is "Don't shoot the Turtles or Wildlife, or you will not be invited back."
Love the sound in the Spring/Summer/Fall. Very peaceful.

We've been upper 30's and hit 40. The snow on the roof has melted back to the original snow line.

@hillbille, I have not shot at floating leaves (at a distance) in quite some time. I have been assured it is impossible. 🤔

Well so much for that, woke up to new snow.

Got woke up about 3am with the loudest thunder storm we've had in a long while, about gave me a heart attack! We had the few days of 60-70s then rain again and now the thunder and lighting with the rain and turning colder again...

Stale bread does not have much nutritional value, though we all sure do like it. white bread has about as much nutritional value as clouds, but I'll take grilled cheese sandwiches all day long (I may not be as smart as I think) Why not buy a bag of trout chow for him to fling. Grow those fishies into lunkers. The turtles will like it too.

Neither one of use/buy white bread. Whole grain/multi-grain etc. only.
It's my buddy's pond/trout. He feeds them other stuff as well. (Corn, etc.) They seem to be doing just fine. 👍

Way too early for peepers here. If they do try they might be "peeping through glass".
84, no reason you can't shoot "at" leaves on a pond. I think it is quite possible to accomplish just that.

Topped out at 35 degrees here today and pure blue skies - a sign that a storm is coming. My neighbor got up on his roof today to sweep the snow off of his solar panels.

I love the sound of frogs! When I was back in Scouts we'd here at least four or five different types around the ponds and lakes. In the woods you'd hear the peepers and other treefrogs. Brings back great memories.

We have a frog pond on the other side of the driveway....its constantly full of frogs. Its amazing how many different sounds they make.....little chirps, loud screams, squeeking, deep bluuurps, sometimes it is so loud you can't hear people talking due to frog sounds. The pond across the street is totally different, clean with no critters at all. I don't understand how two ponds a few feet from each other can be so different.

It is my understanding that the presence of frogs living in a pond, creek, lake, marsh\swamp, is a sign of a healthy environment. When the frogs go, it signals something is wrong.

Heard my 1st ones the other day here where I live after a couple warmer than normal days. Of course now it it is snowing and will be in the low 20°'s tonight. 🙄
