LR-308 sure likes that Win 748
Still working up loads for an LR-308 that I recently built.
Just a beautiful day for shooting; 70 degrees and no winds at all. Both targets at 100yds. 308 Sierra Matchking 150gr BTHP. The first target of 3 was using Varget and the second group of 3 were burning Win748.
I shot 25 of each load and the results were pretty much the same - It likes the Win748. Looks like I have more Varget for my .223 now.

Started with a Aero Precision .308 stripped lower and their 18" .308 CMV Complete upper. Both in FDE. I used their lower parts kit and BCG. Initially I was building it as a Carbine; collapsible stock, vertical fore grip and beautiful Sig Sauer MSR Red Dot and a Juliet 3X Magnifier. Half way through the build I realized this thing is just too big and heavy to swing around like a carbine, so I changed out the Buffer tube, Spring and Buffer to a rifle set up, dropped the vertical fore grip and replaced the Romeo and Juliet with a Monstrum 4-16X44 FFP Scope and added a Magpul Adjustable stock and their Bipod. I like fatter grips, so I went with a ERGO Overmoled grip. I used a Procomp Muzzle Brake and one of my favorite drop in triggers from CMC with a clean 2 1/2# break
First pass - but decided it was never gonna be a Run and Gun rifle.
Better suited as a Battle Rifle.
Overall I'm really pleased with the fit and finish of the Aero Precision parts. This was my first Monstrum scope and so far I'm really happy with it. I did go with a FFP in this application as I wanted something I could be zoomed out and quickly zoom in without my reticle moving off target like a SFP.

It is Mostrom Alpha series 4-16X44 FFP and I used their Offset Picatinny mount with integral rings. I use the MOA Reticle. I'm in So Cal right now.

Very nice looking rifle and pretty good groups! 1/10 twist? You might try some SMK 168 grain pills through it. I'd wager you'd tighten that tight group up even more. Below is the recipe that is supposed to be the same one used by Federal when cooking up their Gold Medal Match ammo for .308. I checked it against the Hodgdon websites data and they say to start with 41.9 grains and max out at 46.5 so 42 should be plenty safe.

Yes, it's a 1:10 twist. It's a relatively new build and I'm still laddering up 150gr right now. Once I find a favorite in that range, I'll definitely be moving up 168gr. Thanks for the recipe.
