You brought one too many
Why, oh why don't they make films like this anymore? I watch this one at least twice a year;

Anybody else have a favorite opening scene like this one? The opening to Big Jake ain't bad either and is one of my other favorites. Bob

One of my favorite opening scenes is "The Godfather". About 7 minutes long. Sets the tone for the entire movie.

That's another good one! All opening scenes should be like that. Now after watching the first 10 minutes of most new movies most are left in doubt about just what the heck is going on. Bob

Another great one is the opening scene of Jurassic Park. Probably my all time favorite. Intense!!!!

I'd like to suggest something like that today's audience has more patience to let the plot grow and doesn't need such a powerful, memorable scene. But, we all know that is B.S. Now, they haven't turned off their phones for the first 15 so they don't want to put their good scenes in the beginning. 😅

He just "caught one in the shoulder." "Flesh wound" they would say in the Westerns.
A shot like that would probably cause a collapsed lung, fatal without surgery. Also, the bullet might hit the subclavian artery, Fatal.
A good chance of a fractured collarbone, not fatal but needed surgery, or else the guy would be crippled.
Anyway, that is a great movie, "Once Upon a Time in the West."

Matt Dillon was the luckiest SoB on screen. He must have been shot at least 20 times in the left arm/shoulder. Always just shook it off. Must've been because none of the bullets ever penetrated more than an inch. Ol' Doc must have had trouble deciding which was the new pothole in Matt's arm, though.

First time I watched this movie I was totally shocked by how COLD Blooded Henry Fonda was! His eyes even portrayed those of a shark about to feast! It was a complete reversal of any previous acting by him that I had ever seen before.
It is a great movie, and one of the best Spaghetti Westerns ever made IMO.

Fonda made a better villain that most would think. Robards was great as the sort of noble crook. Probably one of Bronsons' best roles. And last but far from least one of the best Italian exports of all time, the beautiful Claudia Cardinali;

In the real old west shootouts on main street almost never happened. Buscadero belts and holsters did not exist, they were a Hollywood creation. But I rode with Roy or Gene almost every Saturday.
