Looked into it for an aging relative, but it didn’t make enough sense for their situation. If they had been living alone I suspect we would have purchased a subscription.

Had one for my mother . She used it several times when she had fallen . Definitely worthwhile investment

I helped my grandfather get one several years ago. It was a lifesaver for him while living alone. The only problem was he would 'Test" it just to make sure...

Butchdog , If a fenced in yard is not an option you might want to look at the apple air tag or something similar . several brands of gps enabled trackers are on the market for dementia patients if that is the issue We got the fenced yard for my mom in law and that worked well for a while till she had to be placed ibn a care facility.

Some years ago we bought one at Wally World for $50? There's no monthly fee as it calls 5 numbers (family & friends) in secession until someone answers. Of course, the phone land line is $46 / month.

One of my Meals on Wheels deliveries (95 yo lady) was wearing one when she fell in the shower. When the FD arrived, they found the outside doors locked, and the hidden key wasn't where she told them it would be. So they had to force the door.

Donna got me one. Well actually it was a shock collar. Had the damn button in one hand and the insurance papers in the other!!!!

We had one for my dad back in 2019. Old coot rarely used it and when he did, he had a tendency to set it off accidentally. I think the paramedics got to know him on a first name basis and were bringing him dinner at one point. :D

(Not too long ago) Read through my Information report, from wearing a Heart Monitor for 24/7 (One full week.) About a year and a half ago after a "mini-stroke." The statment that caught my eye? "You remainded in A-fib 100% of the time."
Was laying in bed last night after waking up in the night, unable to go back to sleep (again) and listening/feeling how irregular my Heartbeat was/is. (On three daily Heart meds.) I actually said to God about 6 times "I'm Scared." Not the 1st time. Mitral Valve surgery to repair a Congenital defect in my Mitral valve in 2005.
I don't feel like I am going to be around to be really old. One reason why I am planning on Retiring at 62. (In about 4-5 mo.) The thing that REALLY Scares me, Is Stroking Out like my Dad did. He was pretty incapacitated the last 10 years of his life. I don't know how he did it. Don't think I could.
He was one of the main reason's why I moved back down here. (To help my Mom with him.) I was Blessed to be able to spend the last 8 months of his Life with him and be there when he passed.
RIP Dad.

She has aged quite a bit and slowed down since you met/interacted with her.
Still owe you a Big Thank You, for doing what you did. I know (been told) that you usually do not get involved in smaller projects like that. Thank You, Sir.

I do not have one and really know no one who does but I just have to share this. Ever since reading about the way Mark C died, every time I take a shower, I have these thoughts about him. Just how easy it is to slip and fall doing something that we all do on a daily basis! I have become one who now takes "baby steps" in and out of the walk in shower!
Pretty sure if I lived alone, I'd also look a bit closer at one of those Life Alert gadgets or something similar!

Maybe it's just me.........but, over the last few years, it seems there has been more than a few notable/famous people who have "died due to complications, following a fall at home".
BTW.......I definitely practice "baby steps" on hard packed snow, and especially ice. Heck.......if you can.......wait til it melts!!
