Lithium Mower Batteries
My Kawasaki powered Hustler zero turn has the factory battery that is 8 years old.I know it has to be getting close to the end.When checking prices and quality for new batteries,I saw lithium batteries are available.What I need to know is can I charge those with a regular battery charger,and if I need to jump start it,can I use a regular lead-acid battery.

LiPos batteries like 14.4 volts. Lead acid lives at 13.4 volts.
Traditionally Lipos are not used as starting Automotive engines. I would ask the battery manufacturer if they will warrant your particular use.
Your machine will not charge the LiPos to the voltage they like. That will most likely will not be a problem.

They make 12 volt lithium lawn mower batteries. Lithium batteries weigh much less than lead acid. Looks like the fire risk of lithium batteries is 1 in 10 million.

The fire danger with lithium batteries is greatest in hot weather and the power drain from the battery is high.

Seen on TV news that the electric hummers battery weight of the vec is 3000 lbs.
Whole vec weight around 9000 lbs.
Can Wal Mart automotive section change out that battery?
Keep your receipt for the replacement battery for warranty purposes.

@buddyb You made me look. Hard to believe that my Hustler Z-turn is 7 years old. Even harder to believe that it's the original battery. Unfortunately there's no brand name on it or I would by them for all my machinery & toys.

I looked at using lithiums for the trolling motor on my boat, a 24 volt Minn Kota. Holy crap! Them things is spendy! Super lightweight, but way too much money for this ol' fisherman.

Cabela's (yeah, I know) has 60 Ah lithium batteries for trolling motors on sale now for about $500. Two of them for your 24V system would set you back a grand, but the lifetime cost would beat L/A or AGM ones. The number of charge cycles means they'd last you perhaps 10 years.
