Bore pictures? I don't understand why people think this is possible
I understand that people post pics of bores on some listings. We've tried, but its never "the bore" you see. Its one spot in focus at best with a big white hole in the middle. You would have to take a dozen pictures moving the focus down through the barrel to get an ACTUAL picture of the bore.....so its pretty much useless to try in my opinion. I get emails each week asking for a picture of the bore. I just reply that we cannot provide this. I just wonder if people realize looking at a single picture of the "bore" is really just one little spot?

Just tell them to look at the picture of the muzzle in your auction.....

That is a tough one for sure....I tried several different lights and angles.... As you said it still has the big white dot in the center....12 gauge came out better. The 9mm ones were tough and all I could get was more of a spot in the barrel but not the whole thing....

Yup, me too. I try but my description is way more informative than my lousy bore photos.

Same for me, I'll try now and then but they look lousy and waste my time.
You take 20 close up pictures and a guys ask for a full length picture.
Or manufacturers details on a 75 year old Mosin, hey go look at Wikipedia .

Besides.......other than obvious muzzle damage, corrosion, or barrel bulge......the only important portion of the bore, is the area just forward of the chamber.
Then there's the infamous 3-day inspection. 🤔

Borescope/endoscope technology has come a long way in the last decade, and they are very affordable (less than a hundred bucks).
There are vids on YouTube if anyone is interested in the images they are capable of.
Some phone apps are also available depending on the unit.
My brother has been using one at his shop for years with no complaints.

Yeah I bought a borescope. About $55 on you know where. Now I have a model 70 that I'll never shoot again till it has a new barrel. Craters not pits. Bad. Bought new in 1978. You're right, that picture of the bore from either end doesn't really show that much.

Not you. You'd never be cowed into such a thing. At least that's what I've herd.

Automatic camera operation is no good. Turn that off. Now you need to set the lens arpature to get the maximum depth of field, like f22 or even higher if you can. Then set the camera a little ways back from the muzzle solidly mounted, not hand held. Finally, don't have too bright a light shining up the bore. A little practice and they come out pretty good.
