This is a very well made shotgun. Made in 1902 with nice tight wood and decarbonized steel 28" barrels choked mod and ic. But there is a ton of drop though, and I would guess it has short chambers.

  I am unfamiliar with that term/usage.

  By "short chambers," do you mean shorter than 2 3/4"? Safe for smokeless powder?

  *Sorry, Final question. Not Damascus steel barrels, correct?

  I guess the simplest way I can describe "stock drop) is the distance from your eyes to the barrel rib when your face is on the stock in shooting position. These old guns had a lot compared to modern guns. Old 16 ga guns sometimes have short 2 1/2" or 2 9/16" chambers instead of modern 2 3/4". Firing 2 3/4" shells in short chambers increases pressure. No, not damascus. As far as you bidding this is a full sized gun and would be too heavy for you.

  Thanks Ricci. "Stock Drop," I understand. (I was not sure what you were referring too.)

  Was unaware as to the ga., should have asked. (16 as you stated.) I meant to say shorter than the "Standard," 2 3/4". Thanks for clarifying that.

  Short 2.5" shotshells are still avaliable. Just need to look a little to find them.

  Ricci is absolutely correct in that you can lengthen the chambers but I have never been one to alter classic firearms. I bought 2.5" shells for my Parker SxS which has factory 2 5/8" chambers, even though Parker stated there guns were safe to shoot the 2.75" shells. Indidividual owners choice.

  I have a very old (cir 1890), German made 16ga hammer shotgun with 2 1/2" chambers. Had a pair of chamber mates made from the 16 to 28gauge. Lots of fun to shoot & does well on clays.
