My mouth is raining. Morels are the best on the planet.

    Looks great.

There's a new trend here in Michigan during the search for the elusive Morel mushroom, people are using thermal vision units and the mushrooms stick out like a sore thumb. Amazing use of new technology.

I trained my dog to find them. So far, he's found a deer leg bone and a dead opossum.

I have eaten enough of them to get sick. Could not quit.

    Els! Els! We want morels!

A simple saute in butter is sufficient for those tasty mor(s)els.

Manna from heaven. Now take some ramps, branch lettuce killed in bacon gease, and fresh caught wild trout and you have a feast fit for a king.

Note, too may of those wood fish will give you a buzz, at least for me.

My son has a eye for them and knows where to look. He had some last year that were at least 8 inches long.

By the way the pair well with medium rare rib eye steak.

While gathering them it is best to use something like an onion sack to carry them in. This wwill let the spores fall along the ground as you are on the hunt.

Another note, never eat a morel with a solid core, if you do sickness will follow. They are false morels.

Just another bit of important advice that was learned the hard way. Always slice fresh picked morels in half and soak in a salt water solution along with a good rinse.

Otherwise, you will get a lot more protein than you counted on!!!

P.S. Slugs and rolly polly bugs are not too bad if you cook them hot enough! 😁
