    Eat local. Find little indie joints that serve ahi poke, musubi, and loco moco. There are several such joints on Maui within walking distance of the harbor.

    If you have the time and money, book a fishing trip from Maui.

    Also, check out the submarine ride at Maui. Glass portholes let you see amazing things (You'll be amazed that it isn't all in Technicolor, like you see on TV shows.)

    You will probably hate Honolulu. The streets are festooned with homeless tents and "filth" between all the $1000/night hotels. The street signs are in English and Japanese, which ought to tell you about the majority of tourists. Do go tour Iolani Palace, though. It's stunning

    I showed this to my wife and ask her about the submarine tour, we looked at Atlantis submarine tours. Looks really cool and I think we are going to add it to the agenda. Thanks for the tip
