    Are you asking about scopes with extended eye relief? If so and don't want to break the bank, check out the Vortex Crossfire II Scout. 9.5" eye relief 2x7.

    That being said, I am not a fan of EER rifle scopes but to each his own. Bob

    Are you mounting the scope 'scout style' (forward of the receiver) or the more traditional way, over the receiver?

    If you are asking about eye relief for a normal mounted rifle scope you need at least 3.5 inches which is common for most scopes, BUT it's up to the shooter to know how to properly hold a scope rifle when shooting especially so if wearing heavy insulated clothes.

    Sounds to me like pretty much any decent rifle scope will work for you.

    Here's my favorite for a hunting rifle;

    NeoBlackdog has some good advice. I am still confused by your eye relief worries. Most scopes have approximately 3.5" eye relief and if the stock fits you properly, that should be ample. If the stock is too short and doesn't fit, you could get smacked by a scope. Simple fix would be to add a pad to increase the length. If the stock is too long and you can't get proper eye relief/picture, either shorten the stock or get extended rings to move the scope back. Bob

    Also it's quite common on custom Mauser98's to find that the scope base mounting holes are not properly aligned with the bore.

    The higher the power on a scope the less MOA windage/elevation adjustment you have.

    for example: a 4x scope might get on target but a 3x9 vari power scope will not get on target.

    I've had to use the Burris signature rings and offset inserts to allow for such.

    Getting some more Mauser experiences.

    If you’re looking for a bit more eye relief than most scopes, I would recommend the below. It’s not a high-dollar fancy scope, but I have had these on two slug guns and two 45-70’s, and they have done great. 6” of eye relief is perfect for me, and you really don’t give up much at all in terms of field of view.

    *Note: They also have a Banner 2 version with the new style MIL-Dot reticle (if you care about that).
